Annadel Soccer Club, Santa Rosa: Board of Directors Message
The Board of Directors of Annadel Youth Soccer Club (AYSC) would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new and returning families to another exciting year of youth soccer. Your Board of Directors is here to serve all of you, and help provide a safe learning environment for our players. If, during the course of the year, any questions or problems arise, please feel free to contact your Coach, Age Group Coordinator, or any Board member for assistance.
For new families, we would like to explain what AYSC is all about, and what exactly is its affiliation with the leagueto which it belongs, the Santa Rosa Youth Soccer League, SRYSL. Both AYSC and SRYSL are members of and are regulated by the California Youth Soccer League North, CYSA N. Annadel is one of the seven clubs that make up SRYSL. Six others, like Annadel, represent geographic areas within or nearby Santa Rosa. Each of these six clubs field recreational teams that primarily play each other within the club at the younger age groups, and then also play other teams within the league at the older age group levels. Recreational teams or Division IV do not require tryouts for, placement and only require the desire to play. Division IV (Recreational) teams are the backbone of any club and represent 90% of the teams.
The seventh club in SRYSL is Santa Rosa United, SRYSLs Division I program. The Division I (Santa Rosa United) season typically starts in April and runs until the end of the year. City wide tryouts are held in February of each year for players who wish to play at this highest level of competition. These teams represent the city wide league, not just a club. The time, travel, commitment, and expense involved in Division I play is quite extensive.
In addition, each of the clubs, with the exception of Kenwood, fields Division III Developmental Club Competitive teams. To be selected you must tryout. Tryouts are in the Spring, immediately after the completion of registration. These are development competitive teams that represent their respective clubs. These teams in competition against other clubs play in tournaments and playing leagues that cover a wider geographical area the North Coast, or District 5 of C.Y.S.A. The Division III season typically is from mid-June to the end of November. This level of play requires greater time, travel and commitment on the part of players, parents, and coaches far greater than Division IV Recreational play.
Division III level play provides an intermediate level of competition that falls between Division IV and Division I. Division III is for players whose skill merits a higher level of competition, but who do not wish to devote as much time and other resources to soccer as required for Division I play. Both Division I and Division III offers quality opportunities for players to move on to high school, college, and Olympic Development play. Division IV and Division III teams are comprised of two-year age spans, e.g. U12, which includes players from the age of 10 and 11 based on their age on August 1st of the current season.
Annadel players come from schools within the Bennett Valley and Rincon Valley schools system, along with families that live in the Herbert Slater Middle School/Montgomery High School areas. We try to place children from similar schools on the same Division IV teams when possible. We do not accept requests for players to be on a certain team. Trying to honor all requests is such a monumental task that doing so would not be fair to all. If you have carpooling needs, they may be expressed, but may not be honored. We try to balance teams with older and younger players; as well as balance the anticipated skill level of the teams. All of our coaches are volunteers. If you have a desire to coach or learn more about coaching, contact our Coaching Commissioner. Annadel will reimburse any Coach for coaching courses taken and completed. We are always looking for dedicated Coaches and Referees.
We play our games on City Park fields and School fields.
Use of these fields is a privilege. All of these fields must be kept clean and neat or we jeopardize our chances of obtaining them for the next year. Alcohol, controlled substances and smoking are not allowed on any school field. Please be respectful of our fields. Annadel Soccer had a Field Fund from monies raised partly from our annual Fundraiser. Some of this money, along with money from the Bennett Valley School District and the Peletz Park Foundation, has created the Gary P. Noble Sr. Memorial Field at Yulupa Elementary School. We intend to continue to look for places to help create new fields for the youth of Annadel. As you probably noticed, we have a new field complex at Herbert Slater Middle School and are involved in the development of Montgomery High Schools Field of Dreams, and West Third Place to Play. Have a great season! Yours in Soccer, for the Kids!
