The Racers opened the tournament with a rough loss to West Unity. Tied 2-2 in the top of the 4th, West Unity took at 6-2 lead heading into the the 5th. In the bottom of the 5th inning, West Unity broke the game open and beat the Racers 12-2.
In the second game, the Racers and Kendallville had a battle royale racking of a total of 25 runs between the two teams. Aaron hit a home run that at the time game the Racers a lead. Both teams battle hard but the Racers prevailed with a 13-12 win. Keaton took control on the mound during the final two and a half innings to give the Racers a split on Saturday.
Sunday, the Racers played Edgerton who had 10 run ruled their other two opponents. Alex held Edgerton to 1 run through three innings. Keaton entered the game and had allowed only 1 run until the 5th inning when he was struck in the leg with a line shot back at the pitchers mound. Austin came in for Keaton and did an excellent job in relief. Edgerton was held to a total of 4 runs for the game but unfortunately the Racers were unable to get any runs across the plate. It was an outstanding effort by all team members.
The Racers finished the weekend 1-2 in a three way tie for 2nd in the pool however the tie breaker went in favor of West Unity.

The Racers had their most successful weekend in their three year history during the Bryan All Star Tournament. After opening with a loss to Bryan and then trailing 8-0 after one-half inning, the Racers stormed back behind solid the solid pitching of Alex, Austin and Tanner to defeat Ayresville and earn the #7 seed in the tournament.
In the elimination round, Tanner and Keaton homered to give the racers the lead. Keaton came in during the 5th inning with bases loaded and shut down Stryker the rest of the game giving the Racers their first ever two game win streak and allowing them to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. This was the first time the team had ever won an elimination game.
In the quaterfinals, eventual tournament runner-up Tinora was too much for the Racers. Tinora lost to Bryan in the Finals 2-1.
The Bryan Tournament was a memorable tournament that saw losses to the Champion and runner-ups, a dramatic come from behind victory and a solid performance from start to finish against Stryker. Every player on the team had a hit a some point during the tournament and the Racers showed their pitching depth when Jordan came in for a strong showing during the Bryan game. The Racers try to build on their momentum this weekend at the Edgerton All Star Tournament.

Recently I attended the 2011 Business Success Conference. Pete Eshelman, a former New York Yankee draftee, Yankee front office employee and now a success business owner, gave the following definition of success.
1. Is a journey and not a destination
2. Is a work in progress
3. Requires a lot of work
4. Requires a high pain threshold
5. Requires a team effort
His definition has made me think about our team's success in his terms. Winning is a result of our efforts and does not define our success!

The Angola Racers are proud to announce that Race-Tech Engineering will be our primary sponsor for the 2011 season. In addition to sporting new jerseys with the Race-Tech Engineering logo, the team will once again participate with Scott Hantz and the #72 EMF Race Team over the July 4th Holiday. Through the generous support of Race-Tech Engineering, the team will be able to participate in more tournaments and purchase a second set of uniforms for the team. Thank You Race-Tech Engineering!
