Tony begins his second year in a Chiefs uniform in 2014.....Leadoff hitter started 33 games last season in centerfield and batted .321, leading the team in hits (35) and stolen bases (10)…..Played four seasons at UMass-Amherst graduating in 2013.....Played for the North Shore Navigators of the Futures League in 2012.....Was previously in the ICL in 2010 & 2011 with the Testa Corp. Bombers......At UMass he started all 44 games in center field as a junior and batted .287, accumulating a team high 50 hits along with 25 RBI, 20 runs scored and 12 stolen bases to go along with16 multi-hit games ...Played four seasons at Malden Catholic under Coach Steve Freker ... Helped the Lancers reach the Division I State finals during his senior season .. Mike comes to the Chiefs after spending the last decade playing in the Intercity League for the Medford/Melrose Americans……Well seasoned Intercity League veteran holds a career .246 average......Mike has appeared in 212 ICL games over his career including the post season in 2009 and 2012 …Speedy outfielder with great range and dangerous speed has stolen 73 bases in his ICL career while only being caught stealing six times for a remarkable stolen base/caught stealing percentage of .961……Was second in the ICL in stolen bases in 2011 when he swiped 13 bases without being caught…..Had a career high 14 thefts in 2007…....Enjoyed his best Intercity League season at the plate in 2012 when he hit a lofty .333, going 29 for 87 with eight extra base hits and 10 RBI…...Hit .325 in 2007 for the Americans, appearing in 30 games with 11 RBI…..Began his collegiate career at Division 2 powerhouse Franklin Pierce before transferring to Keene State in New Hampshire where he graduated from in 2010......Was a teammate of Chiefs’ southpaw Eric Perrault at Keene State…....Starred at Medford High in the mid 2000’s, graduating in 2006….....Hails from the same Little League (North Medford, MA) as fellow Chiefs Mike Andre and Matt Boleski and the three current teammates maintain a near lifelong friendship that dates back over two decades…...Is the son of Paul and Jan Burgoyne of Medford, MA……Has one younger sibling, Ryan….

New Hampshire of the Northeast-10 Conference........Hit an overall .216 for the Chiefs in 2011 while catching in 29 games…...Was the starting catcher on the highly successful Eastern Massachusetts Senior Babe Ruth all-star squad that appeared in the SBRL World Series after claiming the New England Championship in 2010.......Former Greater Boston League all-star, Nick excelled in both baseball and hockey during his high school career at Cambridge Rindge & Latin.......Is the younger brother of former Chiefs shortstop and former Bridgeport University captain Nate Leva.....Currently resides in Lowell, MA.....Litreally grew up wearing the Chiefs uniform asending from a bullpen catcher to eventually earning a starting role......

Juan came to the Chiefs in 2012 after spending seven straight seasons with the Minnesota Twins organization.....Hit .327 last season as the Chiefs regular shortstop….Won the Intercity League's Triple Crown in 2012 with 5 homers and 27 RBI and hitting an ICL league best .416 when he led the Chiefs to the ICL championship.......Juan was selected by the Twins in 15th Round of the 2004 MLB Draft.....Played a season of high school baseball at Malden High before being drafted....In his seven seasons with the Twins, he appeared in 666 games, had 634 hits, including 113 doubles, 17 triples and 61 homers.........He appeared in 24 Major League games for Minnesota during spring training of 2010 hitting .333 with three homers and nine RBI...... Had six RBI for the Twins against the New York Yankees on March 7, 2010, that included a grand slam.....Was a career .264 hitter as a professional with 314 RBI during his time with Minnesota, which included stints in Fort Myers, Elizabethton,TN, Beloit, WI & New Britain, CT..... With the ability to play any position for Minnesota, Juan started 274 games in the outfield, 194 at third base, 121 at second base, and 14 at shortstop.........During his rookie season with the Twins in 2004, he lead the Gulf Coast League with eight homers and hit .327........Hit nine home runs for Double A New Britain of the Eastern League in 2010 while starting 127 games.........Currently resides in Malden, MA...

9- PAUL YANAKOPOULOS (UTL)-----Medford, MA-----College: UMass

Now a Chiefs veteran, Yana returns for his fifth ICL season…....Appeared in 36 games in 2013 and batted .274 after seeing action in 34 games in 2012…...One of the most versatile players in Chiefs history, he has played all nine positions in his ICL tenure, including throwing a couple of innings in 2010…....Will be utilized behind the plate and as an infielder and in the outfield again this season…....Posted some serious numbers for Steve Freker at Malden Catholic from 2008-2011.......Named as a 2011 Boston Herald All-Scholastic.......Was one of the few MC players to start all four years on the varsity baseball team…….A two-year captain, he previously led the prestigeous Catholic Conference in both home runs and RBIs and was a Conference All-Star and Medford Daily Mercury/Malden Evening News All-Scholastic…...Hit 17 career homers for Malden Catholic, making him their all-time leader........He was one of the most heavily recruited players in Eastern Massachusetts and has played for UMass-Amherst the past three springs on a baseball scholarship...........Broke a bone in his right hand midway through the 2014 UMass season but is expected to only miss a few weeks of the ICL campaign.....Appeared in 12 games for the Chiefs as a rookie in 2010 and hit an even .200........In 2011, the Medford, MA native appeared in 35 games hitting .238 (20-84) which included six extra basehits....

10-CHAD CONNER (C)-----Bristow,OK-----College:Texas Tech-----Pro: San Fran Giants

Longtime Chief, first appeared for the club way back in 2007….....Veteran has been hampered by injuries and has had playing time limited..........Was restricted to just ten games in 2013 but still managed to hit .409 (9-22) with five RBI……. Had game winning homer against Reading Bulldogs on June 30, 2010 while in the process catching Rob Machado’s no-hitter for good measure……...Began his collegiate career at Fresno City College in California before transferring to Texas Tech, where he graduated from in 2004 before signing with the San Francisco Giants……Served as the Director of Baseball operations at Marshall University in 2009, assistant coach of the Brewster White Caps of the Cape Cod League in 2010 and was named interim Head Coach at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 2005……

11-MIKE ANDRE (3B)-----Medford,MA-----College: Merrimack

Chiefs’ veteran third baseman/designated hitter begins his ninth ICL season in 2014........Rapidly ascending the all-time career leader list and is heading into some pretty loftty company in several offensive categories.......Currently stands seventh all-time in hits with 249 and eighth in RBI with 148…...Five time ICL all-star batted an overall .314 (33-105) in 2013, which included a .385 clip in the postseason….. Hit .293 in the Championship Season of 2012 while delivering many clutch game winning hits, including the walk off game winner in Game Two…..Started all 45 games in 2011 season while hitting an overall .271 (38-140) with four homers and a team leading 28 RBI…. ..Has nine career ICL homers, including a dramatic 10th inning walk off grand slam in the 2011 championship series…...Mike completed his four year stint at Division II Merrimack College in 2009 where he was co-captain and is among the Warriors all-time career leaders.... 12-MATT NUZZO (IF)-----Everett,MA-----College: Brown-----Pro: Toronto Blue Jays
Matt Nuzzo Roster

One of the best all-around athletes to ever come out of Everett, MA, High School……Matt comes to the Chiefs after spending three seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays……Was a 24th Round selection by the Blue Jays in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft after graduating from Brown University……Appeared in 141 games for the Toronto organization and hit six homers with 58 RBI’s…..Holds a career .258 average as a professional……Completed brilliant four year stint at Brown in 2009, earning first team all-Ivy League honors……At Everett, he was a four time GBL all-star in both baseball and football…..In football, was one of the winningest quarterbacks in Massachusetts history as the Crimson Tide won four GBL championships and three Division 1 State Championships with Matt under center……Was a three time Boston Globe and Boston Herald all scholastic in both football and baseball……Matt’s Chiefs’ family roots run deep as he is the son of former Chiefs’ legend Frank Nuzzo, who played third base for the club in the 1970’s under Joe O’Donnell before being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 18th Round of the 1973 MLB draft…..

Led the Chiefs in hitting in 2013 with an overall .326 average while starting 35 games….Knocked in a team high 20 runs…Peter made his return to the Chiefs in time for the 2012 championship after spending the majority of 2011 in the California Angels organization....Was signed by the Angels on July 1, 2011, after hitting a lofty .476 for the Chiefs during the first half of the ICL season...Begins his sixth season as a Chief in 2012....Completed a great career at UMass-Amherst in 2011 and was named to the NEIBA D-1 all-star squad..... Over four years with the Minutemen, Copa played in 140 games with 128 starts and hit .319 (149-for-467) with 119 runs scored, 106 RBI, 29 doubles, six triples and 24 home runs. His home run total ranks tied for sixth on the UMass career all-time list....Holds a career .339 Chiefs average in five seasons....Hit .366 in 2010 with 17 RBI....Was the Chiefs batting leader in 2009 with an overall average of .329... Can play many positions but is primarily a first baseman... Matt begins his third season wearing the Chiefs’ colors in 2014……..Went an overall 6-1 last season, including a perfect 5-0 in the regular season, as part of the regular starting rotation……Had a three-hiter against the Wakefield Merchants on July 15......Threw another three-hitter against the Reading Bulldogs in the clinching game of the semi-final round of the playoffs on August 16 at Maplewood…....Righthander allowed just 40 hits in 46.2 innings pitched while posting a 2.06 ERA and striking out 28 batters…..Named to the Intercity Legaue all-star team in 2013..... Major cog in Chiefs Chmapionship season of 2012 posting a 4-2 record in eight games…..Has pitched eight complete games in his two year Chiefs career……Wrapped up a brilliant collegiate tenure at Framingham State this past spring…..Holds a career 23-11 mark for the Rams including a 7-1 record in 2012 and a 7-3 season in 2013…..His 23 wins places him second on the Framingham State all-time career win pitching list…..Received four varsity letters and was a two time captain at Malden Catholic while helping the Lancers reach the state finals in 2008….. Veteran lefty enters his ninth campaign in a Chiefs uniform in 2014.....Bo drove in 15 runs last season while appearing in 32 games……Started 24 games in the outfield in championship season of 2012.....Had a highly productive season in 2011 while appearing in 43 games during the championship campaign and hitting five homers and adding 20 RBI......Was among the Intercity League leaders in both categories......Started 24 games in rightfield in 2010....The ultimate team player, he has appeared in 226 games since 2006 and has seven career homers.....Among the Chiefs all-time top 25 in all offensive categories…. .Both a football and baseball standout at Medford High School where he graduated from in 2005....Lifelong teammate of the Chiefs’ Mike Andre as the two have played together on both the baseball field and gridiron for almost twenty years…..Joins Andre, Mike DiCato and Jared Freni as the longest tenured Chiefs with all three coming aboard with the club in 2006......Attended Mass Bay Community College in 2006 and 2007 where he pitched and played the outfield.......Son of Bill and Kathy Boleski of Medford, MA....

19-MIKE BARBATI (IF)-----Melrose, MA-----College: Endicott

Begins his seventh season as a Chief in 2014...... Has appeared in 184 games over that stretch……Hit an overall .247 last season while appearing in 36 games, primarily at second base….. Played in 25 games in 2012…..Started a career high 41 games in 2011 and was named to the ICL post season all-star team as a second baseman when he hit .260 in 113 at bats with 13 RBI........Delivered big game winning walk off single in Game Three of the 2011 Championship Series......Mike played a utility role in 28 games for the Chiefs in his rookie year of 2008 hitting .313 .... Former Malden Catholic multi-sport star, he played four years at Endicott College where he graduated from in the spring of 2011……....He is primarily a middle infielder but has the athletic ability to play any position.......The Melrose, MA, resident comes from a long family line of talented and highly respected athletes and coaches......

25-JON BYRNE (C)------Arlington, MA-----College: Eckerd

Jon begins his fourth season as a Chief in 2014……Had a great career at Arlington Catholic where he also played hockey for the highly regarded Cougars.....…… Was a late season addition to the Chiefs' 2011 roster as a rookie.........Hit .231 last season including a couple of RBI’s……..Batted an even .200 in 2013……Appeared in four Chiefs games in 2011 going 4-12 primarily (.333) as a pinch hitter.........Arlington, MA native recorded his first Intercity League hit, in his first game, on July 27, 2011 against the Lexington Blue Sox......Attended the Salisbury School this past spring and is heading to Eckerd College in September…..

Perhaps the most valuable member of the Chiefs’ roster with the ability to play almost anywhere…..Veteran first donned the Chiefs colors in 2006......Has been a resident member of the starting rotation, can relieve or close, as well as play all infield and outfield positions…..Appeared in nine games on the mound last year while posting a 2.00 ERA…..Also appeared in 21 games as a positional player, primarily used at first base…..Is among the Chiefs’ all-time leaders in all pitching categories including; sixth in wins (23), fifth in appearances (65), fifth in strikeouts (201) and fifth in innings pitched with 295….Was Chiefs first baseman in Championship season of 2012 while filling in for the injured Peter Copa…..Named four times as an ICL all-star in 2006, 2009, 2011 & 2013…… Had a nine strikeout no-hitter against Mooney on July 9, 2009... Went 4-1 in 2010 with an overall ERA of 2.06 in nine appearances.... Topped staff in 2009 going 6-4 in 62.1 innings with another outstanding ERA of 2.13.... Completed brilliant career at UMass-Amherst in 2009 appearing in 50 games ...Took a no-hitter into the ninth inning in the Beanpot Championship against BC at Fenway Park in 2009…..Two time captain at Malden Catholic leading the Lancers to a D-1 state title in 2003 ... Begins his fifth campaign for the Chiefs in 2014……Has won 21 games for the club over his first four years which includes six post season victories….Posted a 6-4 record last season with a 2.06 ERA in 78.0 innings…...Compiled an overall 8-1 mark in 2012 on the way to an ICL Championship.…..Was a mainstay on the Chiefs pitching staff in 2011 leading the club in appearances with 16 and was second in innings pitched with 75.0 while posting a 7-3 pitching record with an ERA of 2.89....Joined the Chiefs pitching staff for the 2010 season........Is 7th among the Chiefs' all time leaders in wins (21), innings pitched (244) and appearances (48)......Tim was a huge part of the former Cassell Club rotation in 2006 and 2008.,,,,,In 2007, he pitched professionally for the Namur Angels in Belguim where he posted a 7-7 record with an ERA of 1.68 in 118 innings......Went 7-1 overall for Cassell in 2006 throwing 65.2 innings while striking out 56......Returned to the ICL in 2008 and posted a 5-1 record, which included a complete game shutout of the Chiefs on June 26....As a senior at Brandeis University in 2006, Tim went 10-3 for Judges, capping an outstanding collegiate career....He was fifth in the ICL’s MVP award balloting and finished second behind Lexington’s Bill Cooke in the Outstanding Pitcher category when the Cassell Club won the ICL title in 2006.....Resides in Cambridge, MA......Serves as an assistant coach at Brandeis University in the spring…..

Danny will begin his third season with the Chiefs in 2014……Played for Western New England College in 2012 before transferring to Northern Essex Community College…..Appeared in the JUCO World Series this past spring……Has appeared in a dozen games for the Chiefs over the last two years……Lefty can pitch and also play first base……Played his high school ball at Malden Catholic…..

32- EVAN WALSH (LHP)------Medford, MA------College: Bentley

Left-hander came to the Chiefs in 2013 after a brilliant career pitching for Arlington Catholic….. From Arlington, MA………Bats left and throws left … Evan is a 2013 graduate of Arlington Catholic High School where he earned three varsity letters in baseball … Also played two years of football……… Was a two-time Central Catholic League all-star…….Led the Cougars to the state playoffs all three years……Had a 1.12 ERA as a senior and finished with 16 career wins, among the highest total in school history… Is the son of Edward and Beverly Walsh … Has one brother, Jake (16) … Father played baseball at Eckerd College……

35-MIKE GEDMAN (LHP)---Framingham,MA---College:UMass---Pro:Newark (Can-Am)

Mike returns to the Chiefs for the 2014 season after spending the last three summers in the professional Can-Am League……Played for the Worcester Tornadoes and the Rockland Boulders before finishing up the 2013 campaign after being traded to the Newark Bears……Lefty can pitch and play first base as well as the outfield…..As a professional pitcher, Mike appeared in 58 games while being used primarily out of the bullpen…..Threw 137.2 innings and made a dozen starts while posting a 5-8 record……Also appeared in 149 games as positional player and has nine career homers…..Played for the Chiefs in 2010 and hit .344 in 19 games while adding eight RBI’s…..Completed his college career at UMass-Amherst in 2010 after spending his Freshman year at Le Moyne…..Was a career .312 hitter in three seasons at UMass and had 13 homers and 59 RBI…..Also had 25 mound appearances for the Minutemen and posted a 5-2 record…..Was named Head Coach at Framingham State in 2014 and led the Rams to a 26-17 season…..Is the son of former Boston Red Sox catcher Rich Gedman……Resides in Framingham, MA…….

36-JOHNNY WELCH (IF)-----Medford, MA---College:St. Anselm---Pro:Rockland (Can-Am)

Spent the last seven seasons playing professional baseball in both the Can-Am and Frontier League…..  Started his pro career with the North Shore Spirit of the Can-Am League in 2007…..Was with the Spirit before moving on to the Brockton Rox in 2008 before spending the next three seasons playing for Florence, KY of the Frontier League…......Returned to the Can-Am League in 2011 and had stints with Pittsfield, the Worcester Tornadoes and the Rockland Boulders……...Hit 75 homers as a pro and knocked in 262 runs in 461 games….....Had double digit home run seasons five times during his pro career....... Had 15 round-trippers twice in 2011 & 2012 and added 14 HR’s in 2010, 13 in 2009 and 10 in 2008…… Hit a carreer best .303 for Florence in 2010 and followed that up with a .302 average in 2011 with 46 RBI's.............Knocked in 51 runs in 2009 and was among the Frontier League leaders...........One of the best power hitters to ever come out of the Greater Boston area, Johnny starred at Malden Catholic before heading north to take his talents to St. Anselm’s in New Hampshire……Serves as an Assistant Baseball Coach under fellow Chief Mike Gedman at Framingham State......Resides in Medford, MA…..

Mitchell was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 21st Round of the 2009 Major League draft…….Pitched five seasons in the professional ranks and holds a career 28-26 record with an ERA of 4.46 in 461.1 innings……Appeared in 102 pro games while starting 73 times…….Won nine games in three separate seasons for Vermont and Gulf Coast in 2010, Single A Hagerstown in 2011, and Double A Sioux Falls in 2012…….Made 16 starts for Sioux Falls in 2013 while posting a 4-5 record in 79.1 innings before an injury cut his season short……Capped off his college career at UMass-Amherst where he posted an 11-6 record in 2008 and 2009 after transferring from the University of Maine where he made 22 appearances for the Black Bears……Struck out a career12 batters for the Minutemen against St. Bonaventure on May 1, 2009…..  Before UMass and the University of Maine, Mitchell was a two-time all-conference selection while pitching for the Arlington Catholic Cougars……Also pitched for two summers with the Pittsfield Dukes of the NECBL……6’5 lefty was born in Winchester, MA and currently resides in Woburn, MA…..

The Chiefs stopper, ace right-hander, and reigning Intercity League MVP, has been nearly untouchable over the last few seasons….....Right-hander enjoyed one of the best seasons in ICL history in 2013 going a remarkable 13-0 in 90.1 innings with a miniscule ERA of 0.54 while striking out a league leading 140 batters leading the Chiefs to the regular season pennant….....Jared pitched the Chiefs to the 2012 ICL Championship with an overall 11-1 record......Won the deciding game five in Lexington against the Blue Sox on August 26…....Was named “Intercity League Playoff MVP” after posting a 3-0 mark in the 2012 postseason….....First came on board with the Chiefs as a rookie in 2006….....Is rapidly climbing up the Chiefs' all-time pitching career leader list and is currently third in wins (39), sixth in appearances (56), second in strikeouts (474) and fourth in innings pitched (353)……..Has a career ICL record of 39-6…….Three time Intercity League “Outstanding Pitcher of the Year”, winning the honor for three consecutive seasons in 2011, 2012 & 2013…...Completed a four year tenure at UMass-Amherst in 2010 where he served as team captain…....Appeared in 47 career games for UMass from 2007-2010 and struck out 174 batters in 237 innings…....Went 2-0 for the Chiefs as rookie in 2006…....Former all-scholastic selection when pitching for Malden Catholic…....When wearing the Chiefs uniform Jared is a Realtor for Re/Max Andrew Realty Services of Medford, MA……Is the son of Donna and Bob Freni of Malden, MA…

Chiefs veteran embarks on his fifth season in a Chiefs uniform in 2014….Started 33 games in 2013 and hit second in the lineup….In 2012, batted a lofty .331 overall (39-188) with two homers and 14 RBI while starting 38 games in leftfield…..Desh hit .333 for the Chiefs in 2011 with a homer and 18 RBI before signing a professional contract with Penrith of the Australian Major League in early August….Appeared in 28 ICL games in his rookie season of 2010 and hit .304......Started a record 157 consecutive games for Brandeis in both the outfield and infield from 2008-2011....Had a career .305 average for the Judges (207-632) with 38 doubles, seven triples, twelve home runs and 96 RBI....Stole 40 bases in 49 attempts during his college career... In 2009, as a sophomore, was the only player to start in all 41 contests at five different positions: third base (18 games), center field (12), left field (4), shortstop (4) and second base (3) and batted .288 with 18 RBI and 26 runs scored...In his freshman year of 2008, Tony became the second-straight Judge to earn UAA Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Association honors leading the team in hits (60), runs scored (37) and total bases (84), while tied for team lead with 33 RBI with 19 multi-hit games....UAA Player of the Week honors in 2008 ...Was a three-sport standout at Lawrence Academy.
