SCHERERVILLE -- A light drizzle fell on the freshly painted blue and white Lake Central logo during the national anthem.
Shortly after the rain had ceased, Andrean rained goal after goal on Hanover Central to advance with an 8-0 sectional victory.
The 59ers will play Lowell on Thursday after the Red Devils struck twice in the 36th minute to beat Merrillville 2-1.
Laura Arand got the scoring started for the 59ers, as she skipped one past goalkeeper Molly Fairhurst in only the third minute of play. "I usual just set up the other people," Arand said. It was kind of unexpected," added the junior midfielder of her fourth goal of the season.
Lindsey Broderick did the most damage. Broderick ripped the back of the net twice (19th minute, 35th) in the first half for the 59ers.
The 59ers attack was balanced and scary as Kelli Parks (13th), Jackie Hansen (14th), Lauren Gerbick (39th), Shellie Sawa (42nd), Laura Creviston (76th) all chipped in goals.
The 59ers also got solid goalkeeping from Audrey Bickel and Jenna Westmoreland, who combined for seven saves.
On the other side, Wildcats' Fairhurst held her ground with 19 saves, but there were just too many shots coming her way.
