Welcome to the Ancaster Lions Volleyball Club

 NEWS FLASH: 2012-2013 'Ancaster Lions' Rosters are posted under MY SITE NEWS.Congratulations to all team members and what a great start to the season.

Founded in 2012, the ALVC aims to increase the participation, development, and competitiveness of young volleyball players in the Greater Hamilton Area.  The club currently practices out of Hamilton District Christian High (HDCH) in Ancaster and operates both boys’ and girls’ 15U teams, which play in the Ontario Volleyball Association.

 Our teams practice from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at HDCH and participate in exhibition matches, OVA tournaments, and Ontario championships.

 ALVC coaches are enthusiastic, experienced, and certified.  They believe in teaching solid volleyball fundamentals and know that hard work and self-discipline, combined with a passion for the game, lead to successful players and teams.

The Lions girls’ program is headed by Doug Veldman, who is also the Head Coach of the Lady Royals volleyball program at Redeemer University College.  Doug is Level 2 NCCP certified and will complete Level 3 this season.  He has a decade of experience in coaching at the high school, club, regional, college, and university level.

 Assisting Coach Doug in the 15U girls’ program is Helena Stronks. Former Redeemer University Women's Volleyball Varsity Athlete and graduate in Physical Education and Psychology degree.

The Lions boys’ program is headed by Ed Bosveld.  Ed is Level 1 NCCP certified and will complete Level 2 this season, and is also an experienced referee who has officiated at high school, club, college, and university competitions.  He has more than twenty seasons of experience as head coach of elementary, high school, and club teams. 

Assisting Coach Ed in the 15U boys’ program is Richard VanderWier.  Rich is in his 5th year of teaching at HDCH, where he also coaches senior boys’ volleyball, senior badminton, and baseball.

The important task of club administration is handled by Chantel Schutten.  Chantel works as Athletics Coordinator-Events and Facilities Manager at Redeemer University College, where she also is entering her first year as assistant coach of the Lady Royals volleyball team.

Ancaster Lions Volleyball Club aims to increase the participation, development, and competitiveness of young players in the sport of volleyball within the Greater Hamilton area. The club’s objective is to advance the personal and athletic development of young athletes with the ultimate goal of helping them achieve the opportunity of post-secondary play.
