Collins and Evans to Play in 4A Senior All Star Game
Adam Collins and Andrew Evans have been selected by the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association to play in the 4A Senior All Star Game.  The players will represent the 4A South team against the 4A North at Grand Canyon University on Friday, June 10th at 7:00 PM.  Players for the Super 50 game, held on June 12th (Father's Day) at Bank One Ballpark after the Diamondbacks/Royals game, will be selected from the all star games of all class levels.  Head Coach Todd Naskedov will represent Amphi as one of two coaches for the 4A South team, and as a coach for the South team in the Super 50 game.

Panthers Earn All-State and All-Southern Arizona Honors
Andrew Evans leads the list of Panthers to earn honors by the various newspapers and organizations around the state.  Evans was selected 4A First Team All-State by both the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association and the Arizona Republic.  He was also selected First-Team All-Southern Arizona by the Arizona Daily Star and the Tucson Citizen.  Adam Collins, Andrew Nintzel, Richie Sandoval, Ben Humphreys and Gaspar Hurtado were named Honorable Mentions by the Star and Citizen for the Southern Arizona Teams.

Six Panthers Honored by Kino Region Coaches

Shortstop and pitcher Andrew Evans was named to the First Team and selected the Kino Region Co-Player of the Year by region coaches yesterday at the end of year coaches' meeting.  He shares the honor with James Dever, shortstop for Catalina Foothills.  First baseman Adam Collins and catcher Ben Humphreys were voted to the Second Team for their accomplishments.  Making the Honorable Mention list were centerfielder and pitcher Gaspar Hurtado, pitcher Andrew Nintzel, and outfielder and pitcher Richie Sandoval.   Evans, Collins and Hurtado were First Team picks last season as well.  Congratulations!



J.V. B Season Cancelled
The remainder of the J.V. B schedule has been cancelled due to academic eligibility issues. The J.V. A season will continue as scheduled and all remaining J.V. B players will be added to the J.V. A roster.

More Facility Improvements as 2005 Season Nears
Building on the improvements to Panther Field the past two years, this year's improvements include: removed auxiliary backstops in LF and RF corners, renovated Players' Clubhouse and Coaches' Office, new outfield irrigation, new outfield warning track, decorative and functional rock in clubhouse and office areas and improved 1st base storage shed.  Still planned are additional warning track material, additional concrete in 3rd base batting cage, additional outfield windscreen, an Iron Mike pitching machine in 3rd base batting cage, and additional chain link in LF corner.  Come out this season and see our ballpark!

Tucson Citizen 4A-5A Picks Include Panthers
The Tucson Citizen 4A-5A All Region Teams for 2004 include three Panthers.  Outfielder Tom Longoni, Kino Region Co-Player of the Year is a First Team pick, while shortstop/pitcher Andrew Evans and 3rd baseman Brandon Uphaus are Second Team selections.  Making the Honorable Mention list are pitcher David Bruegger, 1st baseman Adam Collins and outfielder Gaspar Hurtado. Congratulations!

Longoni and Uphaus Earn AZBCA All-State Honors
Amphi outfielder Tom Longoni was selected by the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association to their All-State 1st Team for his performance during the 2004 season. Amphi 3rd baseman Brandon Uphaus was selected to the 2nd Team.  Congratulations boys!

Longoni Leads Flurry of All-Region Honors for Panthers
The Kino Region coaches selected their All-Region Teams last week, and the teams were loaded with Panthers.  First-teamer Tom Longoni was unanimously selected Co-Player of the Year as an outfielder to lead the charge.  Joining him on the First Team were 3rd baseman Brandon Uphaus, shortstop/pitcher Andrew Evans, outfielder Gaspar Hurtado and 1st baseman Adam Collins.  Making the Second Team were pitcher David Bruegger and outfielder Martin Sotelo.  Honorable mention for the Panthers was closer Dane Antrim.  Congratulations to all!

Coach Allen Gets a Promotion
Congratulations to Panthers Coach Nick Allen on being named the new Head Coach at Ironwood Ridge High School.  Thanks for the last two years and good luck with your new program!
