Attention All Coaches - Umpire Notification for Rainouts and Procedure For Rescheduling Games!

In the event that a game needs to be cancelled during the season due to only rain, the home team must notify Frank Gorgone at least 1 hour prior to the start time of the game. If this is not done the league will be charged for the umpire. Frank's contact information is Tri-County Umpire Group @ 610-543-3969,or 610-543-1323 if one hour prior to game. This information is also available on their website www.tricountyumpiregroup.com . Please carry these numbers in your cell phone. If an umpire is running late, please call Frank first. Call the main numbers and then his cell at (610) 724-8450. All games and make-ups are given to Frank ahead of time. Please don't reschedule any games on your own. Just because you think the time may be available, it may not be. All rescheduled game requests  go through Pam Bullock at Pblivewire2@comcast.net. Let me know ASAP that you canceled a game, and I will give you a rescheduled date of what is available.

Safety at Our Fields is a Big Priority! New Fencing!

As you are aware, we have added fences at Indian Lane around the dugouts and behind the first baseline to protect kids from playing in the trench there. We have, also, added them around the batting cages to protect the kids who walk by while  others are warming up with their bats in the fenced in areas. The additional fencing gives them some more space to practice too. Our goal is to be able to update our fields as well as make them safe. Also, a copy of the safety manual is in  the clubhouse and snack bar. If you want it to be sent to you by email, please email Pam Bullock at Pblivewire2@comcast.net.

Little League Ban on Bats!!!

It has been brought to the attention of Little League officials that there are a few bats for sale in stores or that may have already been purchased that carry the Little League approval, but do not have the required bat performance standard markings.  The Little League Rulebook states that beginning January 1, 2009, all non-wood bats used for play in Little League Baseball (majors and below) shall be printed with a bat performance factor (BPF) of 1.15 or less.  While the bats we have identified pass the BPF standard and other standards of proportion and measurement, they do not have the proper label.  These bats are in the marketplace for a variety of circumstances.  After review by Little League officials, it has been determined that these bats may remain in the marketplace and shall be allowed for play during the 2009 season only, with the understanding that these bats shall not be allowed for play after December 31, 2009, even though some improperly labeled bats may still remain in the marketplace, or retained by leagues and players after the 2010 deadline.  Also, check the model you are purchasing.  If these bats, like the Vanquish, are replaced with corrected labeling, and have the BPF 1.15 label, they will be allowed after 2009.

Specifically, the bats in question are as follow:

Adidas Vanquish Blue design   (There is a newer model of this bat, also named the Vanquish and it has copper and black markings.  It contains the proper labeling and therefore is not subject to the one-year rule).

DeMarini     Black Coyote
                   Rogue
                   Distance
                   Rumble
                   Tengu

Easton         LZ-810

Louisville Slugger    YB31

Sponsorship Opportunities available at AMLL

The upcoming season marks the 59th year Aston-Middletown Little League has been serving our community by providing a wonderful outlet for teaching teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship to our youth.  Sponsorship is vital to the health of our league.  Donations help us pay the significant costs associated with teaching little league baseball to nearly 400 children throughout our area.   We hope you’ll consider supporting AMLL by sponsoring a team, field sign or purchasing an ad in our program book.  Should you have any questions, please contact Kim Devereux at 215-327-4989 or kimdevereux@yahoo.com.
