Welcome to the Amherst Lightning "Gold" 16u Homepage.
We are an independent team representing the Amherst Girls Softball League {A.G.S.L.} which is located just outside Buffalo in Western New York. The Lightning are one of Western New York's premier elite softball teams. We are a member of the Niagara Frontier Girls Softball League.
Our particular team was formed in 2002, where at the 14u level we finished with an incredible W-L record of 76-9 (.894). The 2002 season accomplishments included 5 1st place tournament finishes, the NFGSL playoff Champions, a 4th place finish at the NSA Eastzone World Series followed up with a 3rd place at the NSA Super World Series.
For the 2003 season, the team (composed of all 15yr. olds) moved up to play their first year at the 16u level where they finished with a respectable W-L record of 47-12 (.797). The team took first place in 4 of the 6 tournaments entered, tied for 1st place in the NFGSA and a 17th place finish (out of 169 teams entered) at the 16u PONY Nationals in Cary, N.C.

**Cooper International Fastpitch Challenge 16u Tournament Champions (8-0) Montreal,Qe.
**Lancaster Sunny Delite 16u Tournament Champions (5-1)
**Clarence 2004 NSA National Qualifier 16u Tournament Champions (6-1)
**16u NFGSA Regular Season Tied for 1st (10-1).
**17th of 169 teams @ 16u PONY Nationals in Cary, NC (6-2), giving up only 5 runs in 8 games.
For the 2004 Season, the team which in it's 2 year existance has a W-L record of 123-21 (.854), returns ten players along with two key additions. Along with playing in the 18u division of The Niagara Frontier Girls Softball Association, the team will be competing in thirteen local and out of state tournaments including the 2004 NSA "A" Nationals (Columbus, Oh) and the 2004 ASA Nationals (Bloomington, In)
