Response to Jon Giffalo's posting ...

The NAFL is not included in the AFN power ratings this season because the NAFL is not an AFA member league. Press releases were issued by the AFA in early spring explaining the 2005 membership package. Inclusion in the power ratings is one of the membership benefits. You can refer to past AFA press release to get more information. In the coming months, the AFA will be issuing press releases explaining the 2006 membership program. Please make sure that you are a member of the AFA's press release distribution list (which you can join at http://www.americanfootballnews.org/) so that you don't miss the latest announcements.

Meanwhile, the Greenjackets are AFA associate members for the 2005 season as you must certainly already know. Therefore, the Greenjackets are receiving those benefits due to associate members as explained in previous press releases. Several NAFL teams like the Greenjackets, Racine Raiders, Philadelphia Scorpions, Bay Atlantic Sharks, Kansas City Jazz, among others are AFA associate members for the 2005 season.

I will probably stir some emotions in some with this posting, and cause a few others to curse me out... but I never let that stop me before. I have sent this posting (as an email) to about seventy people nationwide, who all have certain amounts of clout nationally within minor league football... so if it's deleted it will be known and spread anyway.

I was just wondering why the "North American Football Association" teams are not listed on the "American Football New's" Rankings ? The teams that I know of (new members of the NAFL) are all run in the exact same manner that they were when they were in one of your recognized leagues, and the NAFL is exactly the same as any other regional league in the way they interact with other leagues. Why should any non-NAFL teams suffer because they don't get compared to "ALL" the teams that are out there. All of the "TEAMS" should get ranked on their own abilities and record, and what league your team happens to be affiliated with should only matter when it comes down to your opposition strength. I personally know of more than a few leagues in the northeast who have done the very same manipulating, deception and coaxing that the NAFL is sometimes accused of. If any league official within one of the leagues that I am speaking of thinks that absolutely "NO-ONE" in their league has "EVER" tampered with or adversly affected another league's team or that whole league... they are only betraying their own memory. We are all human, and what I do "ALWAYS" seems admirable to Me, Myself and I... but the guy who got shafted by my action might see it just a bit differently. We all play, coach or administrate this wonderful sport because it is fun... or because we feel we owe it back for what we have gotten from it in years past. It is a passion to most devoted members, and thusly we become empassioned in our thinking... but we need to seperate the anger, envy and grudges from that passion. Some of these players may only play a year or two, and we will destroy their passion if we show them our bad sides. So lets all decide to appreciate and respect our opposition... whether they are the lineman accross from you, the opponents coaches, the other teams administration... and yes, even if they are the other league's officials, or the league that stole our biggest rival away from us. It's a game, not your lively-hood. If you take this beautiful thing called football so so serious that you risk ruining it for so many other people, please take my advice... retire, so other reasonable people can take over for you. Minor league football shouldn't belong to any one of us, no matter how you define "US". We should "ALL" belong to minor league football, and if you feel otherwise... I feel sorry for you and I feel ashamed that I share this sport with you. If the latter is true, you are in this for all the wrong reasons. Before you condemn or punish, take a good long look in the mirror... it just might make you sad.

Congratulations to the Houston Wolverines on their third consecutive league championship. Their next game is against the Wichita Falls Drillers for the Spring Season Texas State Championship.

At What Point with the AFNews begin updating the power ratings for the rest of the Winter/Spring leagues? Many leagues, such as the RMFL/GSAFL/NMFL have either completed or are getting close to completing their seasons and the AFNews has not even compiled their scores yet. Please let us all know!

“Awesome”…“Excellent”…“Fantastic” – That’s how readers have described
The Semi-Pros, the classic novel that pays tribute to the semi-pro game.

If you love football, you’ll love The Semi-Pros. Check it out at:
