For questions about softball or to volunteer, please contact AMA Softball Commissioner Jeff Lokey (jefflokey@yahoo.com)

Answers to a few common questions:

  • The 2013 registration fee is $200 per player.
  • This is not a "tryout" or "draft" league.  Instead, every effort is made to divide teams by schools.  Some schools have larger numbers of players, so some splitting/grouping is necessary
  • Meeting new people and otherwise expanding a player's social circle is a valuable aspect of the AMA experience.
  • If you'd like to request certain girls play together, volunteer to coach and make the request before registration closes and teams are set.  No other team switching requests will be considered.
  • Requests to "play up" or "play down" will only be considered where a player wants to play with her grade-level classmates.  All such requests must be made before registration closes and teams are set.
  • Most divisions will have their games on Saturdays.
  • Practice days, times and locations will be selected by coaches once teams are formed.
  • All our players have busy schedules outside of softball.  Your coaches' and teammates' understanding of this fact must be balanced by you and your daughter's commitment to her team and the softball experience in general.
  • Teams will be set up by the end of February and practices will start in early March.  Weather permitting, games will run from March 9th until May 18th.
  • There are a number of volunteer positions available - please contact Jeff Lokey if you're interested in helping make this a great season and program.
  • Still have questions, please email  menloathertonsoftball@gmail.com

AMA Softball Calendar/Schedule for 2013:

Teams will be set up late February and practices will start early March.  Weather permitting, games will run from March 9th until May 18th.

We are in the process of scheduling pitching, hitting and fielding clinics, as well as arranging with local high school and college coaches and players to attend practices and provide instruction.  Stay tuned....

Mission Statement

The AMA (Alpine-West Menlo & Menlo Atherton) Softball League program aspires to be an outstanding softball organization and contribute to our players' athletic and personal development.  Our goal is to provide your daughters with an experience in which every player:

  • Is coached using the principles of Positive Coaching.
  • Above all, has fun playing the game.
  • Feels like an important part of the team regardless of performance.
  • Learns life lessons that have value beyond the playing field.
  • Expands her social circle by meeting new friends.
  • Learns the skills, tactics and strategies of softball and improves as a player.

We are committed to creating a positive culture in which coaches, parents, fans, umpires and players work together to achieve our mission.
