Rockets Announcement

image_name2
First,I want to thank everyone that has been a part of the Rockets family for the past 5 years. This includes parents, players, friends, and fans all across the Country.I hope that we have represented you well in everything we have done, both on and off the field.
With this being said,The Alabama Rockets will not compete as a team any more. This brings deep sadness, but also tremendous happiness for all these young men as they grow older.Because of the geographics of our players being from 5 states,it is impossible for us to continue as a team, because most High School coaches want their players playing locally.
The Rockets competed starting out in 2001 as a 9 year old team playing mostly 10 year old teams because there were very few 9 year old teams and will close out as a 13 year old team.During this 5 years, the Rockets record was 301-74.During this time the Rockets won 2 State Championships,2 Fall National World Series Championships, finished 1st in USSSA points 2 years,1 USSSA Major World Series Championship,2 Final 4 appearances in the USSSA Major World Series,1 NABF World Series Championship, won the prestigious Smoky Mountain Shootout 3 out of 4 times, won 2 Super USSSA NITs,1 in Detroit,Michigan and the other in Charlotte,North Carolina, and won many other tournaments that are to numerous to list.I feel our on the field accomplishments speak for themselves. What I am most proud of is our part in literally thousands of teams across the Country implementing prayer as a vital part of the overall game.We always prayed before every game and always after every game at the mound with the opposing team.Every Sunday we had a mandatory team devotional that all players were REQUIRED to attend. In the event they did not attend, they were not allowed to play on Sunday. We never had 1 player miss in 5 years.
For all our fans across the Country I want to personally say THANK YOU.Since our website has been in existence these past 5 years,we have had almost 40,000 hits. This is overwhelming that so many people followed the Alabama Rockets. For all the teams, coaches, parents, and players that we have competed against,I also want to say THANK YOU.You guys were all wonderful and I have thousands of friends across the Country because of baseball. What a blessing.I would love to mention everyone of you,but that would be impossible.A special thank you to all the coaches across the Country.I consider all of you guys as great friends and you all treated me wonderful and professionally.
As we close out this chapter in our lives,we would love to hear from you, either through the message board on our website or you can email me at jobyball@aol.com.
A last Thank You to all the parents, coaches, and players that played for the Rockets and made it what it was.Thank You!

God Bless,
Joe Bob Whitt
