Raiders lose in 1st round of Playoffs to Brookwood
The Raiders took the #1 rated Brookwood Broncos to the brink of eliminated but eventually lost in 9 innings of game 3.
Game 1. Raiders 4, Brookwood 3 (9 innings) Colin Snow pitched 7 innings striking out 8 but left the game with a 3 to 3 tie. Zach Garrett got the win; he came in and pitched the last 2 innings allowing the Raiders to score in the top of the ninth to get the win. The Raiders scored 4 runs on 6 hits.....scoring in the top of the ninth with a walk to Zach Garrett, a base hit by JC Cook then the game winning RBI single by Grant Newsome. JC Cook had 2 hits, Colin Snow added a RBI double, Austin Marr added a hit and scored twice, Mitchell Newsome had a hit and a run.
Game 2. Brookwood 6, Raiders 4. The Raiders gave up 5 runs in the 2nd inning and then tried to rally before falling short. Evan Green came in relief of Adrian Rivero in the 2nd inning and shut down the Brookwood offense for 5 1/3 innings giving up just 1 run while striking out 6. The Raiders offense hit 3 doubles (by Mitchell Newsome, Austin Marr, Grant Newsome) and had singles by Grant Newsome (RBI), and two by Bradford Mattox (RBI). The Raiders scored four runs in the 3rd inning with 2 doubles, 2 singles and 3 walks, all with 2 outs.
Game 3. Brookwood 7, Raiders 5 (9 innings). Zach Garrett pitched 7 innings giving up 6 hits and striking out 5 but left the game with a 5 to 5 tie after Brookwood hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. Jonathan Mitchell took his 1st high school loss but gave up a 2 run home run in the bottom of the ninth after coming in relief of Garrett in the 8th. The Raiders managed just 5 hits but scored 5 runs with the benefit of 11 walks and 1 HBP. Singles by JC Cook, Grant Newsome, Bruce Nyland, Will Kearney and Mitchell Newsome. The Raiders scored 1 in the 2nd inning on a single by Grant Newsome, a SB, then advance on a ground out before scoring on a WP. Starting off the 6th inning, when the Raiders scored 4 runs to take a 5 to 3 lead, Tommy Butler was HBP, then 4 consecutive walks to Colin Snow, JC Cook, Grant Newsome and Bruce Nyland tied the game, Will Kearney singled on a suicide squeeze, giving the Raiders the lead and another run scored on a error giving the Raiders a two run lead in the 6th.

Raiders make playoffs by beating MIilton in 9 innings
It took 9 innings, but the Raiders (17-9, 11-5) beat the Milton Eagles 6 to 3 to advance to the Georgia State Playoffs. Colin Snow pitched 7 innings, giving up just 6 hits while striking out 14! Zach Garrett closed out the final 2 innings, striking out 3, to get the win.
Bradford Mattox got the game winning RBI by knocking in JC Cook who had singled to lead off the 9th. After Bruce Nyland was intentionally walked, then Mitchell Newsome delivered a RBI single moving Jonathan Mitchell (courtesy runner for Nyland); Mitchell then scored on a wild pitch to give the Raiders a 3 run lead in the 9th. Mitchell Newsome had a hit, a RBI and scored a run. Austin Marr was on base all 5 times including a hit, 2 BB;s, a HBP and reached on error. Tommy Butler had a long double, scored a run and had 2 RBI's. Colin Snow and a single, a double and a RBI. JC Cook had the big single and scored the go ahead run in the 9th. Bradford Mattox had the big game winning hit and Bruce Nyland was 3 for 3 with an intentional walk as 7 hitters totalled 10 hits. Next up is the Brookwood Broncos in the 1st round of the state playoffs.

Raiders go 10 and 5 in region with 3 to 2 win over Roswell
The Raiders (16-9, 10-5) won another 1 run game (3 out of the last 4) against Roswell 3 to 2. Zach Garrett pitched 6 innings giving up just 4 hits and striking out 4. Colin Snow closed out the game to get the save in the 7th. Ryan Gallardo had 2 hits including a RBI and scored a run. JC Cook had 2 hits including a RBI. Austin Marr had a hit and scored a run, Tommy Butler had a hit and scored a run. Colion Snow had a hit and a RBI. Bradford Mattox added a hit and Cody Smith as a courtesy runner stole two bases. The last regular season game will be Friday night at Milton.

Cook hits Grand Slam in 5 to 4 win over Northview
JC Cook hit his 2nd Grand Slam of his career at AHS in the 4th inning leading the Raiders (15-9, 9-5) over the Northview Titans. Tommy Butler got the game winning hit in the top of 7th with a RBI single to score Austin Marr to break the 4 to 4 tie. Jonathan Mitchell got the win with 3 strong innings in relief while striking out 7. Colin Snow struck out the side in the 7th for a save. JC Cook had 2 hits (double and grand slam), Tommy Butler had the RBI single, Mitchell Newsome, Ryan Gallardo, and Grant Newsome also had hits. Next game is Wednesday at HOME versus Roswell.

Raiders get first shtuout of season to beat Chattahoochee
Zach Garrett pitched a complete game 2 hitter in shutting out the Chattahoochee Cougars as the Raiders raise their region record to 8-5, 14-9 overall. Zach struck out 6 and did not allow a baserunner past 2B. Grant Newsome had 2 hits, including a double, 2 RBI's and scored a run. Bradford Mattox had 2 hits and scored a run. Tommy Butler, Colin Snow and JC Cook each added a hit. Next game is Monday at Northview.

Raiders Come From Behind to Win in Extra Innings
The Raiders (13-9, 7-5) beat the Centennial Knights 4 to 3 but it took 8 innings to do so. After giving up 3 unearned runs in the first inning and then held the Knights scoreless for the rest of the game. The Raiders scored two in the 3rd: a single by Bradford Mattox, a Fielders Choice by Austin Marr and single by Mitchell Newsome loaded the bases before Tommy Butler singled a run home and then Ryan Gallardo singled the other run home. In the 5th inning Austin Marr doubled, then was sacrified bunted over to 3B by Mitchell Newsome before scoring on Tommy Butler long fly ball for Butler's 2nd RBI of the day. In 8th, Colin Snow singled followed by a single by Bruce Nyland to put runners at 1st and 2nd before Grant Newsome got the game winning RBI single. Colin Snow got the start and went 6 innings, giving up just 3 unearned runs while striking out 11. Evan Green got the win in relief and Zach Garrett came in a got the save in the bottom of the 8th. Next game is Friday night at HOME vrs Chattahoochee.

Snow Homers in Loss to Lassiter
The Raiders (12-9, 6-5) ran into Lassiter's "buzz saw" pitcher as we got only 3 hits but struck out 13 times in the third loss in a row. Colin Snow Homered in the second inning for the Raiders only run. JC Cook added a single and double. Evan Green started and took the loss, pitching 3 innings. Jonathan Mitchell pitched 3 innings giving up just 1 hit, then Alan Carpenter pitched the 7th inning not yielding any hits. Next game is Wednesday at Centennial.

Raiders now 6W and 4L in Region after loss to Sprayberry
The Raiders (12-8, 6-4) were shutout by excellent pitching by Sprayberry's ace with the Raiders losing 4 to 0. Zach Garrett pitched a complete game while striking out 6 in the loss. Austin Marr had 2 doubles, Tommy Butler had 2 singles, Grant Newsome and JC Cook each added a hit completing the just six hits by the Raiders as not a single Raider baserunner got past 2B. Next game is Monday at HOME vrs Lassiter.

Battle of Raiders goes to Walton in Extra Innings 4 to 3
The AHS Raiders (12-7, 6-3) traveled to Walton (14-5, 6-3) for a key region matchup featuring two quality pitchers who both gave the fans exactly what they came to see. Colin Snow pitched all 8 innings giving up just 4 hits, only 2 earned runs (both of those in the 8th inning) and struck out 9, but took his first loss of the season. The AHS Raiders gathered 7 hits. Ryan Gallardo got the scoring started for AHS Raiders as he doubled in the 3rd inning, sac'ed to third by Mitchell Newsome then driven in on a RBI ground out by Austin Marr. The AHS Raiders tied the game two/tow in the 7th as Tommy Butler lead off the inning with a single, followed by a single by Colin Snow and a RBI single by Bradford Mattox. In the eight inning, Mitchell Newsome started the inning with a single, moved to second on a sac bunt, then scored on an error giving the AHS Raiders the temporary lead. Next game is Saturday @ Sprayberry before hosting Lassiter on Monday.

Raiders beat Wheeler 4 to 3
Raiders (12-6, 6-2) had a 4 to 3 come from behind victory over the Wheeler Wildcats (7-11, 2-6). Adrian Rivero pitched 3 2/3 innings striking out 6 then Evan Green closed the last 3 1/2 innings to get his 3 win of the year. Austin Marr had 2 hits, 2 RBI's and scored 2 runs. Grant Newsome has a RBI double, Ryan Gallardo had a double and scored, Tommy Butler had a RBI single and Bradford Mattox singled and scored. Colin Snow singled in the 4th to complete the 7 hit offensive attack. Next two games are away, Friday @ Walton and Saturday @ Sprayberry.

Raiders Lose to Kell Longhorns
The Raiders (11-6, 5-2) lost to the Kell Longhorns on a cold Monday night 5 to 0. The Raiders managed just 2 hits, one by Colin Snow and another by Mitchell Newsome. Zach Garrett pitched well but took the loss. Jonathan Mitchell pitched 2 innings of relief. Next game is at HOME vs. Wheeler on Wednesday night.

Raiders lose to Lovett in non region game
The Raiders (11-5, 5-1) played their 3rd game in 3 days, this one against the Lovett Lions. The Raiders used 5 different pitchers giving up 9 runs on 11 hits, 8 walks and a hits batsman, with Adrian Rivero suffering the loss. Seven Raiders got hits including 2 by Grant Newsome, both for RBI's, a bases loaded 3 RBI double by Austin Marr, a long opposite field HR by Colin Snow and singles by Tommy Butler, Bruce Nyland, Bradford Mattox and Mitchell Newsome completed the offense. Next game is Monday at Kell.

Raiders get Big Region Win over Pope
The Raiders (11-4, 5-1) hosted the Pope Greyhounds on Friday night and came away with a 3 to 2 win. Colin Snow pitched a complete game giving up just 5 hits and striking out 10 to pick up his 5th win of the season and now holds the career record for most wins by a pitcher at AHS. The Raiders offense was limited to 3 runs on 5 hits as Tommy Butler led off the 2nd inning with a walk and scored on Bradford Mattox's double. In the fourth, Colin Snow singled, Bradford Mattox again doubled moving Snow to 3B, Ryan Gallardo singled them both home to complete the Raider scoring. Grant Newsome had the other hit to lead off the game but was stranded on 2B. Next game is against Lovett in a non region game on Saturday.

Raiders "Spring Break" Shows in Loss
The Raiders (10-4, 4-1) played a non region game to attempt to shake off the effects of a week long Spring Break, they were unsuccessful. Gathering only 3 hits (JC Cook, Tommy Butler and Bradford Mattox), committing 5 errors and giving up 8 unearned runs......the Raiders lost to Marist 11 to 0. Next game is Friday, April 12th at HOME versus the Pope Greyhounds.

Raiders Dealt 1st Region Loss
The Raiders (10-3, 4-1) out hit the visiting Milton Eagles, left 12 runners stranded on the bases, and even balked in two runs while losing 5 to 1. Evan Green took the loss while giving up just one hit. Adrian Rivero pitched well in 3 1/3 innings of relief. Jonathan Mitchell and Brian Imperiale closed out the last two innings. Tommy Butler had 2 hits including a RBI single knocking in Austin Marr for the Raiders only run and then doubled in the 7th. Colin Snow had 2 hits, Austin Marr and Mitchell Newsome each added a hit. Next game is Friday night @ Sprayberry as we start the region cross over games.

Raiders get 4th win in region, now 10W 2L overall
Raiders (10-2, 4-0) defeated the Roswell Hornets at Roswell 7 to 3. Zach Garrett pitched a complete game gem as he struck out 7 and gave up only 2 earned runs. JC Cook added 4 more RBI's to his career leading 66 with 2 hits including a big bases loaded double in the 4 run second inning. Mitchell Newsome added 3 hits, 2 RBI's and scored 2 runs. Austin Marr had a hit, a RBI and scored 2 runs. Bruce Nyland, Tommy Butler, Colin Snow, Grant Newsome and Ryan Gallardo each had a hit. Next game is at HOME on Wednesday against the Milton Eagles.

Raiders get second loss in rain
Having just played 3 region games and with the prospect of playing 3 more region games this week, the Raiders used the extra "rainy" Saturday game to rest some of the regulars and get some others into the game, but ended up losing to the Parkview Panthers 11 to 2 in a rain shortened game. Bruce Nyland went 3 for 3 while Grant Newsome, Tommy Butler and Ryan Gallardo each added one. Mitchell Newsome got the start, Jonathan Mitchell pitched the second inning, Alan Carpenter pitched the third and fourth while Daniel Hamblin closed it out. Collectively they gave up only 7 hits. Next game is Monday at Roswell.

Raiders beat Northview 11 to 1
The Raiders (9-1, 3-0) defeated the Northview Titans (7-5, 2-1) in 6 innings by a score of 11 to 1. Colin Snow picked up his 4 th win of the season, giving up just 5 hits and striking out 9. He helped himself at the plate with 2 doubles, 2 walks and a RBI. The Raiders banged out 12 hits with Grant Newsome (1B & 3B, 2 Runs, 1 RBI), JC Cook (1B & 2B, 2 runs and 4 RBI's!), Ryan Gallardo (two 1B's, 3 RBI's) having 2 hits games with Snow. Austin Marr doubled and scored 2 runs, Bruce Nyland doubled and scored 2 runs, Tommy Butler singled and scored 2 runs, Mitchell Newsome singled and scored to round out the hitting, scoring and RBI's. Next game is a non region game on Saturday against Parkview before playing Roswell away on Monday.

Raider go 2 - 0 in Region with win over Chattahoochee
The Raiders (8-1, 2-0) get their second win in the region with a 7 to 4 victory at Chattahoochee. Evan Green pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up just 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 5. Mitchell Newsome and Zach Garrett, who got the save, closed out the game.
Grant Newsome had 3 hits including a big 2 run home run to break a 1 - 1 tie in the 3rd inning, he scored 3 runs and had 2 RBI's. Five other Raiders had two hits including Austin Marr, also with 2 RBI's, Bruce Nyland (1B & 2B), JC Cook (two 1B) , Tommy Butler (two 1B, run scored and RBI) and Colin Snow (1B & 2B and RBI). Mitchell Newsome also added a hit and scored 2 runs. The next game is at home versus the Northview Titans on Friday, 3/28.

Raiders (7-1) get 1st Region Win
The Raiders (7-1, 1-0) get their first region 6AAAAA win by beating the Centennial Knights (3-4, 0-1) 11 to 5 on a very cold night for baseball. Colin Snow got the win by pitching 6 innings and striking out 10. Brian Imperiale closed out the game. Snow also helped himself at the plate with 2 hits, 2 RBI's and scored 2 runs. Austin Marr continued his hot hitting with 2 more hits and 3 RBI's and scored a run. Bruce Nyland had 2 hits and 2 runs scored. JC Cook added to his career leading RBI total (62) with 2 more RBI's and scored a run. Ryan Gallardo got his first RBI with a single and Mitchell Newsome got his first RBI on a sacrifice both in the 6 run 3rd inning. Tommy Butler started that inning off with a single and later scored. Grant Newsome drove in a run in the big 3rd inning also. Next game Wednesday at Chattahoochee.

Raiders go 4 and 0 in Georgia Dugout Club Tournament
The Raiders (6-1) won their 4th game in as many tries in the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament by beating the Redan Raiders 8 to 4. Both Austin Marr and Colin Snow lead the 12 hit offensive hit attack with 3 hits, a RBI and run scored each! JC Cook had 2 hits including a big 2 RBI double in the 7th to give the AHS Raiders the lead. Tommy Butler added a RBI double and scored, Ryan Gallardo had a single. Mitchell Newsome got his first varsity hit, first run scored and his first save! Jonathan Mitchell got the start and helped himself at the plate with a big 2 RBI single in the second. J.C. Cook got the win in relief.

Raiders suffer first loss at hands of Mill Creek Hawks
The Raiders (5-1) took their first loss of the season at the hands of Mill Creek 10 to 2. Not much highlights for the Raiders except Bruce Nyland had all 3 Raider hits including two RBI doubles driving in Austin Marr in the 1st and Richard Skinner in the 7th inning.

Raiders get 5th win by beating North Forsyth
The AHS Raiders (5-0) beat the North Forsyth Raiders 10 to 2. Colin Snow earned the win by pitching 4 innings of 2 hit baseball allowing 1 unearned run and striking out 6. Evan Green picked up a 'save' finishing off the last 3 innings giving up just 1 hit while striking out 3. The 14 hit offensive attack was lead by Austin Marr who went 4 for 4 and scored 4 runs. JC Cook had 2 hits and 3 RBI's, Tommy Butler had 2 hits and a RBI. Six other players got hits including Grant Newsome, Bruce Nyland (2 RBI's), Colin Snow (2 RBI's), Jonathan Mitchell, Cody Smith (RBI), and Bradford Mattox. Next game is Wednesday night at HOME against Mill Creek.

Raiders win #4 with a 4 to 3 win over North Cobb
The Raiders (4-0) won their fourth game in as many tries by beating the North Cobb Warriors 4 to 3. Zach Garrett pitched a complete game while throwing just 76 pitches and striking out 9. Tommy Butler and Colin Snow each had 2 hits and 2 RBI's each; Colin Snow with his 2nd HR of the season after Tommy Butler had doubled to lead off the 4th. Tommy Butler had 2 RBI's after hitting his 2nd double of the game in the 5th inning with runners at 2B and 3B. Grant Newsome, Austin Marr, JC Cook, Jonathan Mitchell and Ryan Gallardo each had hits. Next game is Saturday versus Mill Creek.

Raiders Hit 2 HR's and Beat Hiram 6 to 1
The Raiders (3-0) got 2 two-run Home Runs off the bats of JC Cook and Bruce Nyland; and Colin Snow pitched 5 innings of No Hit baseball as they gave the Hiram Hornets (2-1) their first lose of the season 6 to 1. Snow had 9 strike outs in 5 innings . Mitchell Newsome pitched the last two innings giving up just 2 hits and one unearned run. JC Cook and Bruce Nyland each had 2 RBI's with the HR's. Four players had multi-hit games including Grant Newsome, Austin Marr, JC Cook and Tommy Butler as they all had 2 hits. Ryan Gallardo also added a hit and with Nyland's HR completes the 10 hit offensive attack. There were several good defensive plays as Bruce Nyland threw out 2 runners stealing including the first baserunner, in the 1st inning, and another in the 6th inning. Cody Smith made a spectacular diving catch in RF sliding through the bullpen mound up against the fence. Next varsity game is Thursday night at North Cobb.

Raiders get 2nd Win
Raiders (2-0) beat the visiting Berkmar Patriots 12 to 2 in a run ruled shortened game. Jonathan Mitchell took the mound and pitched all five innings, giving up just 3 hits while striking out 4 to get the complete game win. The Raiders banged out 12 hits including a big 2 run HR by Colin Snow to start the scoring in the 2nd inning. Colin later added a single to join Austin Marr (2 doubles), Tommy Butler (double and single) and Ryan Gallardo 2 singles) as all having a multi-hit game. JC Cook added a 2 RBI single, Bradford Mattox added a RBI triple and Bruce Nyland singled. Kenneth Reynolds, freshman, singled with bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th, as a "walk away" RBI in his first varsity AB!

Raiders win season opener over Lakeside
The Raiders (1-0), a pre-season #13 in the state, started the season in impressive form with an 11 to 2 win over Lakeside Dekalb (1-1) in the 1st game of the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament. Evan Green was honored with the opening day start and responded with a 4 inning, 4 strike out performance allowing only 1 hit, in getting the win. Daniel Hamblin and Adrian Rivero pitched in relief. The Raiders benefited from 10 base on balls and added 7 timely hits including 5 extra base hits. Adrian Rivero had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, including a bases loaded triple after walks to Tommy Butler, Jonathan Mitchell and Cody Smith to start the scoring in the 2nd. JC Cook had 2 doubles, 2 RBI's and scored a run. Tommy Butler had a bases loaded and clearing double for 3 RBI's and scored a run. Austin Marr added a RBI triple in the 4th and scored 2 runs. Gavin Topp got his 1st varsity hit in the 7th inning to round out the 7 hit attack. Bruce Nyland walked twice and scored 2 runs. Next game will be Wednesday, March 5th at HOME versus Berkmar Patriots.
