Almont Jr. Raiders: Why Almont Jr. Raiders?

· Experienced Coaches (experience with youth through high school). We run a simplified version of the Almont Wing T offense and 4-4 defense.

· Close 10 year partnership with Jr. High/High School (many of our coaches move on to coach at Jr. High level).

· Emphasis is not placed on winning at all costs, but instead on having fun and learning the game of football

· Every child plays regardless of ability

· Sportsmanship stressed (League sportsmanship trophy won past 8 years)

· Fundamentals and techniques taught the same as school program to help prepare children for an easy transition to Jr. High/High School Sports

· Former Jr. High/High School coaches are currently on Jr. Raiders staff

· 10 years of supporting Almont’s youth

· League developed to give children from small towns an equal playing field instead of trying to compete with larger towns.

· Past winner of Detroit Lions youth team/coach of the week

· Our first group of Jr. Raiders went on and won Almont High School’s first District Championship, and our 3rd group went on to state semi-finals. Majority of Varsity players are former Jr. Raiders (Ask a former Jr. Raider what the Jr. Raiders have meant to him or her!!)

· 10 years of building a top-notch program. We have developed from a league run program, to a self funded (non-profit) organization.

· Parents given numerous opportunity to be a part of the program

· Best Safety equipment that money can buy

· All fundraising money put right back into the program (check out all the fun things we have purchased with the hard work of our parents!).

· Numerous scholarships given to children who would not have been able to participate.
