WEST ALLIS ALLEGRO VARSITY AND JUNIOR ALL*STAR TEAMS

Allegro was founded in 1995, beginning as just one team.  In 2001, the Junior Allegro team was started because there was such a demand for younger girls to be able to perform competitively.  The Varsity All*Star Team is a highly-competitive team that consists primarily of high school-age girls, but 8th graders can qualify for this team based upon performance ability.  The team competes at approximately 10 or 11 dance competitions each year in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota, plus it attends a National Dance Competition each year.

The Junior Allegro Team is made up of 6th through 9th graders, and is less competitive than the Varsity All*Star Team.  The Junior Team attends most of the same competitions as the Varsity team, but usually does not attend Nationals.

Because these are all-star teams, you do not have to attend a specific school or live in a specific city in order to be on the team.  Usually the teams are made up of girls from six or seven different schools! 

Because of the wide variety of dancers that we attract, and because of sensitivity toward and respect for other local teams, certain standards have been set to alleviate confusion about who may qualify to audition for our teams:

If you are on an Allegro team, you may not participate on another competitive dance team at the same time.  *If you attend middle school, you MAY also be on a middle school pom pon squad, as long as that squad is noncompetitive. 

Allegro will never actively recruit dancers from other teams nor add them to our teams.   If you wish to change teams, you may only audition for Allegro after the end of the competitive season and during our spring auditions.  Our teams are not meant to be alternatives for dancers to switch teams.

If you have been suspended from another dance team and wish to audition for Allegro, Allegro will honor the suspension you received from that team, and your qualifying for Allegro will be based upon the severity of your previous behavior.

Allegro will adhere to the all-star team grade ranges for performance divisions as adopted by the Universal Dance Association/National Dance Alliance:

Youth All-Star Division:     3rd-6th Graders
Junior All-StarDivision:      6th-9th Graders
Varsity All-Star Division:   12th Grade & Below
Open/Collegiate:                Post High School
   
The Allegro Dance Team Program has been recognized on a National level for its innovative programming, community involvement, and outstanding performance.
