................................WELCOME TO THE ALLEGRO DANCE TEAM WEBSITE!...........................
The 2011-12 West Allis Allegro Dance Team is an all star competitive program that is made up of four teams: The Elementary, Junior Prep, Junior Elite, and Senior Varsity.
The Elementary Team consists of 2nd-6th graders; the Junior PrepTeam consists of 4th-8th graders; the Junior Elite consists of 6th-9th graders, and the Sr. Varsity Team consists of 8th-12th graders. Placement by grade is "overlapped" and placement is based upon skill level. Auditions are held in April and May, and the performing season runs from June through March of each year.
Allegro has been recognized for its community service and unique programming, both on a local and a national level. It has received the HYPE Community Service Award, has been named as the Universal Dance Association/Varsity National Dance Team of the Month, and the head coach has been selected to the United Performing Association Coaches' Hall of Fame.
The teams perform at local community events and compete in 10-12 competitions throughout the year locally and throughout the Midwest, and the Varsity team attends a national dance competition each year. They compete in pom pon, jazz, hip hop and kickline team routines and also compete in solos and ensembles.
The teams operate under the auspices of the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District Recreation Department. The coaches are: Sarah Davis (varsity and elementary team coach), Christina Hofmann (jr. elite team coach), Colleen Floryance (jr. prep team coach).
