How long is the Fall season?

The fall season will begin around in September. The season and will end before Thanksgiving.

How many days a week will my child be involved?

It depends on the age range. The older players usually spend more time, but an average is 2 or 3 practices a week before the season and 2 games a week with a practice. The game schedule and coach’s schedule can differ.

Who gets paid?

Arlington Little League is a purely volunteer organization. We survive on volunteers. From the people that stock the concession food to the umpire staff. These are people, most with a full time job; who spend their free time for the benefit of the children.

What is expected from the parents?

All we ask is a parent take their turn per child at the concession stand and help with a fundraiser or two. The coaches, umpires and board members volunteer countless hours at the field and can use all the help you can give us. The parent’s auxiliary needs volunteers. This is the group that plans fundraisers, pictures and carnivals. It usually is not very time consuming. Please remember that all of the coaches, concession workers, board members and especially umpires, are all volunteers and are doing their best. Please remember that in the heat of the game. All parents’ actions are seen by all the children. We have always had a family atmosphere here and I want to continue it.

Why does the league need fundraisers?

With the cost of insurance, maintenance, mortgage, and utilities, it cost about 3 times the registration fee per player to pay the bills. The community donates, we sell outfield signs, have a raffle and usually we have a carnival.

Is there any travel?

There is some traveling involved. They are mostly at Arlington area parks, although most games are usually at our park.

Can I be a board member?

Any person that wishes to volunteer or become a board member is welcome. There is a background check involved as per Little League Rules.

Can my child be a Challenger Buddy?

A valuable part of the Arlington Little League experience is the Challenger League. During the spring season, players on minor league teams and above are challenger buddies on at least 2 occasions with their team, and are welcome to do more if they wish. Assisting the handicap in playing baseball gives the children a different perspective on baseball and on life.

Is there a return check fee?

There is a $25.00 charge for any returned check. The league can no longer absorb these fees.

What do the parents provide?

Every parent will need to provide their child with a baseball glove and baseball pants to conform to the teams. The team manager will advise you about the pants type. Cleats are optional.

Is there accidental insurance on my child?

League insurance is a secondary policy that becomes affective after your child’s primary coverage. For more information go to www.littleleague.org
