Alabama Flag Football Association: History
The Alabama Flag Football Association(AFFA) began in 1987 as the Huntsville Flag Football League. In 1990, the AFFA was formed to develop league's outside of Huntsville. The AFFA is a non-profit based organization. Our job is to promote, develop, supervise, and inplement a budget for the expenses such as hiring city directors, officials, maintain the web-site. The AFFA offers divisions: Corporate & Competitive. We are wanting to add a Church division. We play 8-on-8 flag football on a regulation size football field. Rules allow players to open-hand-block, therefore we do allow controlled contact. Our goal is to strengthen the physical, moral, and competitive fiber of Americans by expanding opportunties for participation in Fall, Spring, & Summer Flag Football throughout our great state.
