HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR 2010 SEASON
WITHOUT THEM COLLEGIATE SUMMER BASEBALL IN ALEXANDRIA WOULD ALMOST CEASE TO EXIST
Each summer, all over the United States, countless numbers of collegiate baseball players aspire to follow their dream of someday playing the game professionally. There are many summer leagues for coaches and players to choose from throughout the country.
Through relationships built by the various summer teams with college coaches around the country a "recruiting" process begins in the preceding fall to build rosters. This effort is put forth to offer players the opportunity to hone their skills and possibly impress a professional scout. There are many different reasons for being successful at the recruiting portion of collegiate summer baseball. A huge effort is made by all the teams in all the leagues to "sell" their respective summer programs to the colleges and universities.
Each team in each league can offer the finest in reputation, location, team organization, fields, equipment, and coaching, but the most important part of this entire package is the host family.
Without host families opening their homes to these young men and offering them a place to stay for two months, summer collegiate baseball would almost cease to exist. Nearly every summer collegiate baseball league in the country depends on host families to make all of this possible.
To consider becoming a host family, please consider four questions:
Do you have a spare room or rooms in your home?
Are you interested in having an impact on a young man's life and possibly his future professional career?
Are you interested in building a relationship that may last a lifetime?
Do you love the great game of baseball?
If you answered "yes" to these questions you may very well be a perfect candidate as an Aces host parent/family!
This summer approximately 30 young men from all over the United States will descend upon our area for the summer to play baseball. From early June to early August they will play 42 games in 60 days.
A host family is only asked to provide a warm bed and access to a washer and dryer. We handle the rest.
