A SPECIAL ACES 'THANK YOU!'
Our 2009 season has officially come to an end and the entire Aces organization would like to 'tip our caps' and say 'thank you' to our team, coaches, fans, friends, host families, sponsors and supporters, for helping us to have the great year, both on and off the field.
The Aces congratulates the Bethesda Big Train, for winning the CRSCBL 2009 regular season (31-10) and league championships (3-0), as well as the Maryland Redbirds, Herndon Braves and Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts for getting into our league's championship series.
This year we set a new home attendance record, eclipsing our 2008 inaugural season numbers. Our fans made Frank Mann Field at Four Mile Run Park a destination place for watching great highly-competitive collegiate summer baseball! Our team had a winning record at home and played strong baseball throughout the season, with 14 contests being decided by one run.
In the off-season we'll be having monthly meetings to get ready for 2010, as well as having our first-ever banquet and silent auction in the Fall. In the Spring we'll have our first-ever golf tournament as well.
Next summer, be sure to tell your friends and family that when you're going out to see some great baseball, you're staying on our side of the Potomac, in Alexandria - 'Where Legends Begin!"
Thanks again everyone! We'll see you soon!

Thomas Gray (Armstrong Atlantic) named Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 15 to June 21
Thomas Gray (Armstrong Atlantic) of the Alexandria Aces has been named the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 15 to June 21. Gray pitched a gem against the Maryland Redbirds on Sunday, June 21, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out nine batters en route to a nine-inning shutout.
Gray retired 23 of the first 25 batters he faced in that game and didn't surrender the walk until the eighth inning. After a two out single in the first inning, Gray retired the next 18 batters consecutively, and he finished the game by striking out the final two batters. Gray also pitched a perfect ninth inning against the Rockville Express on June 16, recording one strikeout. Opponents hit just .091 against Gray last week.
