A-L-EX Bound College Athletes plus more updates
A-L-EX Bound College Athletes

WOW Another A-L-EX Athlete is off to a Major University…

I do not think any of you know her, but she finished high school, and is now off to Ohio State University. She was a very good runner while with us and also a Very nice young lady, Her major will be in the Medical Field, We wish the best for DANNTA CORNUTE, you go girl!

Oh, by the way, just to throw a couple of proud words at you, there are other A-L-EX athletes in colleges through out the USA; here are just a few schools our athletes are attending: San Luis Obispo UCLAArizonaArizona StateNorthern ArizonaTexasOhio UniversityArkansasLSUCornellTexas El Paso UniversityUniversity HoustonStanford  We have athletes at Junior Colleges getting themselves ready and better prepared to transfer to a Major University of their choice.. And while I am at it, we have many high school athletes who have come through our program and are doing very well at various High Schools in the county. Our in coming freshman class of boys and girls are going to shock a lot of people this coming season. WOW Another One is OFF to College from A-L-EXThis one was a tremendous Track athlete, she was one of the few that had no weakness and feared no race.  She would take your heart, soul, spirit, and if you even thought you could win she would take that too.  She will be going off college to play basketball. Her quickness came from, you know whereJ.  Mz A and I was there for her signing, she will be attending Nevada University.  I am speaking of Amanda (Peanut) Johnson, one of the best female athletes to have ever come through A-L-EX.She, along with 3 other athletes set a record at their high school in track. She attends El Camino high school, Amanda is an honor student with a 4.0 GPA We wish her and all the other athletes much success and to follow their Dreams. Mz A and I are so very proud all of them and many others who have come through the ALEX program.More Updates…
  • I just want to say that one of your team mates (A-L-Ex athletes) not only as a freshman made the La Jolla High School Varsity Cross Country team, he is also their #2 runner on the team. I went to see him run in the CIF Championship meet today and he not only ran very well, he medaled, and he with his teammates qualified for the State meet this coming weekend.  Just wanted all of you to know how well he is doing as a freshman.  Thank you Andrew, for inviting us to come out to your first High School Cross Championship Meet.

Andrew Farkas: State Meet UpdateAndrew did very well at the State Meet. As a freshman he finished 90th out of 193 boys in his division, which included seniors, juniors, sophomores, and of course other freshmen’s’. Out of the entire freshman in his division he was the 4th fastest, and the 15th fastest between all the divisions combined.  He was 3rd on his La Jolla high school team, his time was actually better than any La Jolla team member did in the previous  year by 10 seconds.  We must remember that Andrew is just a freshman and is still learning about how to train, compete, and adjust overall while dealing with this distance and Cross Country stuff, and so far he is adjusting and handling it well.  J The Lighting Express Family wish Andrew all the success he has coming to him and then some.  Oh, by the way… he is doing very well in the class room, I do mean very well.  He is now waiting for his regular high school Track Season to start so he can get down to business. Thanks Andrew and La Jolla CC Coaches for my State Tee-Shirt

  • Janay Pierce is at University City High School, a freshman. She has done very well in the classroom thus far, first progress report period she pulled a 3.8 GPA. She did not compete in any Fall sports but is participating in Soccer this winter and has made the Varsity Team. She is one of three freshman who will be on the starting roster for the team (the other two being teammates on her Club soccer team), so very exciting for them to come in and win a starting spot as a freshman on Varsity. Even thought her track season has not started, her coach has already assured her a varsity spot.
  • This is just a note on some of our athletes in high school that I have heard about in regards to their accomplishment and also on their education. First we have Nicholas Dease who as a freshman had a great football season; he was made captain of the offensive line and was also moved up to Varsity and his team was in the playoffs, he also made the freshman basketball team and he is doing a super job academically.  As you can see he had an awesome freshman year and things are just going to get better for him, Nicholas keep up the good work and some day (I CAN SAY I KNEW YOU). As for his sisters I am very excited about their up coming season, coach Cedric is expecting great things from them as I too. By the way all three of them made the honor roll.

  • Second we have a young lady who came to us from her high school for help in her event, which she was not doing very good in, so with a little help she medaled in the Calif. State Games Track meet, and she qualified at the USA Association championship meet to compete at the Junior Olympics Regional’s in Las Vegas where she ran well, and she also competed at the CIF cross country championship where she medaled and qualified for the State Championship at Mt Sac. she to is doing very well in the class room. If you are wonder who I am speaking of… none other then (Amber Berry)

  • Third we have Dimitri Scott who had an outstanding football season as a freshman as he used that super track speed to run 13 touchdowns and it was said that he had the greatest high school season coming in as freshman in school history, and guess what? he only played 5 games because of a hip injury, the injury was not serious but just enough that his coaches did not want to take any chances with what they have, he will be working out with the varsity in the summer and we all know what that means. J. He is also doing outstanding in the class room.
 Off Season Training
  • The off season strength and endurance training will be on Mondays and Thursdays, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.  There will be a Christmas break from the 14th of December till November 7th which is when we start back up.  Any one who wants to be part of this is more than welcome, including new athletes.  Believe me you will have an advantage going into the regular season as some last year can attest, as they had an outstanding season.
