11/03/2014 2015 ROOKIE STATE TOURNAMENT - The 2015 Rookie State Tournament will be hosted by Oxford, Alabama beginning on Thursday, July 9th.

11/02/2014 1.10(b) 2 5/8” Barrel Bats - (1)  Subject to restrictions by local league or state organizations, 2 5/8” barrel bats are legal in all divisions of Dixie Youth Baseball.  Note: If a 2 5/8” barrel bat is a -3, the BBCOR certification must be stamped on the bat. Local League Option:  Local leagues may restrict the use of 2 5/8” bats in any age division in local league play. State Organization Option:  State organizations may restrict the use of 2 5/8” bats in any age division in district and state tournament play. The State Board of Directors of Alabama Dixie Youth Baseball voted not to restrict the use of 2 5/8” barrel bats in any age division in district and state tournament play. NOTE: ALL 2 3/4" barrel bats are prohibited in all divisions of DYB.

8/14/2014 O-Zone World Series Update - Muscle Shoals brings home to Alabama our  first ever O-Zone World Series Championship. Muscle Shoals defeated Florida in the championship game to win the 2014 O-Zone World Series played in Lexington, S.C.

7/19/2014 AA World Series Update - after 4 games in pool play at the Inaugural Dixie Youth Baseball AA World Series in Texarkana, Ark. Alabama AAm State Champion McCalla is 2-2 and Alabama AAc State Champion Municipal National is undefeated at 4-0. There is one game left for each team in pool play before the 4 team double elimination play begins....the top 2 teams from each pool advance. Games are broadcast by JockJive.

7/05/2014 2015 AA (coach) State Tournament - Prattville and Oxford submitted bids to host the state tournament next year. Prattville won the right to host the 2015 AA (coach) State Tournament.

7/04/2014 2015 AA (machine) State Tournament - E. Tuscaloosa and Underwood submitted bids to host the state tournament next year. E. Tuscaloosa won the right to host the 2015 AA (Machine) State Tournament.

3/02/2014 2014 AA (Coach pitch) State TournamentAny franchised league that is playing Coach pitch is eligible to bid on the 2014 AA (Coach pitch) State Tournament. Any league interested in bidding MUST submit a ‘Letter of Interest to Bid’ to the State Director postmarked no later than March 21, 2014. With your ‘Letter of Interest’ please include a written letter of endorsement from your District Director. After the interested leagues have been informed of the minimum bidding requirements and have been approved to bid, those leagues that are willing to meet the minimum requirements MUST submit a sealed bid to the State Director postmarked no later than April 9, 2014. Please write “AA BID” on the outside of the envelope. All bids for the 2014 AA (Coach pitch) State Tournament will be opened in a meeting of the State Director, Deputy State Directors and the Alabama National Directors on April 13, 2014. Due to the fluid state at this time as to the number of districts participating in AA Coach pitch play the interested leagues will be informed as quickly as possible after the April 1st declaration date of the number of participants in the tournament and any other pertinent bidding information. Any league interested in bidding MUST submit a ‘Letter of Interest to Bid’ to the State Director postmarked no later than March 21, 2014. With your ‘Letter of Interest’ please include a written letter of endorsement from your District Director. After the interested leagues have been informed of the minimum bidding requirements and have been approved to bid, those leagues that are willing to meet the minimum requirements MUST submit a sealed bid to the State Director postmarked no later than April 9, 2014. Please write “MAJORS BID” on the outside of the envelope. All bids for the 2014 MAJORS State Tournament will be opened in a meeting of the State Director, Deputy State Directors and the Alabama National Directors on April 13, 2014. The potential bidder(s) will be advised ASAP after the April 1st franchise date of the makeup of the tournament and any other pertinent bidding information. 2/17/2014 MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Competition - Your Dixie Youth Baseball League is encouraged to participate in the Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR)! PHR is a FREE, 1-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14 that is simple to host. Leagues can host anytime from the beginning of your 2014 season through early May. 

In 2013, Dixie Youth Baseball player Jackson White, of Charleston, SC, advanced to the MLB PHR National Finals, held annually at the MLB All-Star Game.

Participants have the opportunity to compete and advance through four levels of competition including Locals, Sectionals, Team Championships at MLB Ballparks and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.

2/17/2014 2015 State Meeting - Mark your calendar for our 2015 State Meeting which will be held at TBD on Saturday February 7, 2015. We will post more meeting info as it becomes available.

2/17/2014 Face Masks - The State Board of Directors of Alabama Dixie Youth Baseball voted to make the batter’s face guard a local league option beginning in 2014. It is up to the discretion of the local leagues if the batter’s face guard is required on their players batting helmets. NOTE: A batter’s helmet with an approved face guard is still required for the player pitcher in AA (7&8 year old) tournament play.

2/17/2014 Concussion Awareness - To be eligible to manage, coach or umpire in any Alabama D.Y.B. tournament game a person must present proof of passing the free on-line Concussion Training Course offered by the U.S. Government Center for Disease Control (CDC) at their District Credentials Meeting. For more information on this free training please visit the CDC website at –www.cdc.gov/concussion/sports
