Alabama Concussion Law (HB108) effective June 2011

NOTE: This law requires all athletic organizations to (1) provide information on sports concussions to all athletic participants and their families, (2) ensure that all coaches have training in the recognition of concussions, and (3) whenever a participant is suspected of having a concussion they must be immediately removed from participation and not allowed to return until they have been cleared by a licensed physician. The U.S. Government Center for Disease Control (CDC) has all of the educational material a league needs to be compliant with this law free of charge. Please click on their link below.

Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports

To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, the U.S. Government Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion.
