Alamo Volleyball Association: Since 1983
Alamo Volleyball Association was founded in 1983 to give high school athletes who were interested in playing at the college level an opportunity to excel and to receive exposure for their volleyball skills. Over the years, Alamo has emerged as the premiere junior volleyball program in South Texas and is regarded as a model for emerging clubs throughout the state. Along with developing volleyball talent, our program stresses the importance of personal discipline, leadership, organizational skills, and character building. Alamo players participate in USA Volleyball junior competition at the state and national level. This competition has resulted in Alamo Volleyball teams being selected to participate in the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships every year since Alamo was founded. Over 98% of our graduating seniors have gone on to play volleyball at the collegiate level. For the 2008 season, Alamo fielded twenty teams, with over 200 girls participating. Seven Alamo teams qualified to compete in the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships in Dallas, TX. in June-July 2008. The Alamo coaching staff is considered outstanding, with the majority of our coaches serving as volleyball coaches at the high school and college level. Alamo Co-Directors of Coaching are Mike Carter and Keith Wilson. Both of these coaches are heavily decorated through their High School coaching careers. Coach Carter is currently at Reagan High School and Coach Wilson coached at Providence High School. Between them they share over 20 years working with Alamo.
