Coach Birdwell to Retire
Cross-Country and Track Coach Mary Birdwell is retiring from teaching this spring after 43 years in the classroom. We at Hoover are saddened by the loss of our legendary Coach Bird but celebrate with her and her husband Roy, their decision to move on to the next phase of their lives together.
We invite the track community and the public at large to join us in honoring her at a reception Sunday, May 18th, at 2:00 p.m., in the Hoover High School courtyard. If you have any fond memories of Bird that youd like to share with her, well have video cameras available to record your personal message for her.
Alabama USATF note - Coach Birdwell has been a loyal and faithful member of USATF for a very long time (we won't try to put numbers to it). She has contributed tremendously to our organization, especially the youth. We wish her well in her SCHOOL retirement and look forward to her continued involvement with Alabama USATF.
