Registration
Application for membership in USA Track & Field may be obtained by contacting the Membership Chair, Rose Murphy, by phone or email. Individual membership is $15 per calendar year for Alabama residents and $20 for all others. Club membership is $45 per year.
A primary benefit of individual membership provided by USATF is supplemental accident insurance that covers the individual while traveling to and/or taking part in a USATF sanctioned event.
A benefits package is supplied to each member by the National Office.
Sanctions
A USA Track & Field sanction is a certificate issued by USA Track & Field which approves and, in effect, licenses the holding of an Athletics competition in the United States. A sanction is issued only to events which meet the requirements of the Amateur Sports Act of 1978 and USA Track & Field (USATF). An event in any of the disciplines of USATF that offers prize money or invites foreign athletes is required to obtain a sanction from USA Track & Field. Sanctioning of non-prize fund events is encouraged to protect eligibility of amateur athletes and to allow for recognition of records.
USATF sanctions in Alabama are obtained by filing a completed preprinted USATF sanction application with the Alabama Association of USATF and paying the requisite Association and National fees.
A primary benefit by USATF to all sanctioned event and member clubs is Commercial General Liability Insurance. Each USATF sanctioned event and Association is an additional protected person on the USATF master insurance policy. The cost of this insurance is incorporated in the National Sanctioning Fee and is partially absorbed by the General Operating Budget of USA Track & Field.
