Greater Akron AA Baseball League: About the AA League
The Greater Akron AA Baseball League is a summer baseball league thats roots date back to the 1920's. We provide an affordable and competitive playing atmosphere for players from the Greater Akron area that want to continue to continue to play baseball at a high level and continue their developement as baseball players.
Any player age eighteen (18) and over that has completed high school is eligible to play. That includes aspiring, current collegiate, ex-collegiate, and ex-professional baseball players. Coaches from the Greater Akron area lead their teams through a challenging regular season schedule from late May to early August, finishing off with a double elimination tournament to decide the AA League Champion. The top teams from the AA League will also be given the opportunity to compete in post-season tournaments.
As a league that strives to continue the developement of younger players, while at the same time challenging more experienced players, the Greater Akron AA League uses wooden bats exclusively. The use of wood bats during summer baseball gives current or aspiring college players a boost heading into their college seasons and helps prepare them for the possibility of professional baseball.
Playing exclusively in the Greater Akron area, the league utilizes several high school facilities as well as municipal facilities in the following cities: Akron, Alliance, Field, Ellet, Green, and Ravenna among others.
The Greater Akron AA League allows players from the Greater Akron area to play closer to home, while at the same time offering them the opportunity to compete on the highest level at the local, regional, and national level.
The Greater Akron AA League is affiliated with the Buckeye Baseball 18+ (BB18+) and the American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC) providing the league with post-season opportunities for our teams.
