Ambler Junior Baseball: Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Scott Miller, Alex Condeelis, Tom Keenan, Dan Fitz, Marnie Brown, Maureen Stanek, Amy Joyce Financial

·         $15K in checking, $1K in snack stand. Everything paid to date

·         Income $32K YTD

     o   $28K registrations

·         Maureen has $1100 deposit from snack stand, spent $800, net $300

·         Scott has $500 from community sale to deposit

Pickering and Knights Field

·         Scoreboard controllers – only softball controller works. Alex will call about non-working controller. Will also look into linking to iPad.

·         Dirt/Dirt Boxes – Scott will have someone handle – also need at Knights

·         Field Equipment

     o    Dan will look into pop up tents. Had one, need to replace.

     o   Alex will look into a liner for Knights. Estimates $90. Ideally will fit in box, if not, can be stored in the field house at Knights. Agreed that he would look into purchasing 3 liners so there is one for each field at Pickering as well. Alex will also look into getting template.

·         Need to do something about batters boxes, look into cost

·         Need to add field work to coach’s list. Should be done like WRA – home team lines field, away team rakes.

·         Need sign “no soft toss into fences”, also need “no kids” or “keep out” for snack stand door.

·         First Aid Kits – Marnie got ice packs, kept on top of refrigerator in snack stand. Alex will send e-mail to coaches regarding safety, they will be responsible for restocking kits. Need someone to check and restock the kits in boxes weekly.Field House/Snack Stand

·         Need to talk to King about blowing circuits in snack stand. Will need fixed for second microwave. Also need another outlet next to the circuit breaker for the freezer. Per Tom, he will label all of the circuits.

·         Need attic fan and ceiling fan installed. They are trying to do ceiling fan by Saturday, attic fan will be done after.·         Double doors at back of field house need to be painted, both inside and outside. Remainder of storage area also needs to be painted.

·         Maureen needs shelving in snack stand. She will handle.

·         Maureen is currently supplying restroom products. Door needs to be fixed. Need someone to clean the bathrooms. Scott will ask his sister to handle in exchange for sponsorship.

·         Need to address issue of dust entering the snack stand. Agreed that screen door won’t suffice. Suggested painting the floor so it is easier to sweep. Need signage to keep kids out of snack stand, safety issue.

·         Need hot water fixed in snack stand. Tom will call Chris.

·         Planning for water ice day, ices cream day and dollar dog days at snack stand. Will do water ice and ice cream once it gets warmer.Current Business

·         Maureen asked for clarification on paying umpire fees. Home teams pay. Ryan coordinates. They are paid out of the snack stand, fees range $25-$35, Whitpain gets $40. Will double check with Ryan.

·         Scott will handle background checks, has everything he needs. Cost last year was $700.

·         Discussion regarding fees for tournament teams – Cal Ripken, Sunday Select and Softball. Tom advised we paid fees for RASA including insurance and umpire fees. Concerned that we are losing money on Sunday Select and 12U Select. Uniforms were $400. Need to look at fees and factor in all costs. Will watch during fall season.

·         Vince inquired about 14U and 18U softball. We currently buy socks and uniform replacements. Vince is requesting shirts. Marnie advised current ones were not ordered for long term use. Agreed that we will provide and Marnie will have names put on shirts.

·         Update on Senior Connie Mack – 20 kids registered  so far. Alex needs another week to get information so Marnie can order shirts.

·         Home Hun Derby/Picture Day – Scott is purring e-mail together. Need at least 10 volunteers to help with Skills Competition.

·         Discount Card – added Jackets & Things, Sweet Briar and Fireside

·         Raffle tickets reordered. Scott will follow up.

·         Tom received request from 14U to hold car wash fundraiser for their team at the bank. Tom advised that the bank cannot do individual teams. Fundraising dollars need to come in to AJB then be dispersed back out. Will suggest firehouse as an alternate location.

·         Tom discussed request from The Brain Aneurysm Foundation for a softball tournament at Pickering on Saturday, August 3rd. They would like the use of Pickering Field and the snack stand for the entire day, plan to a tournament with three games. They will handle all food and snack stand. Borough will require certificate of insurance, not an issue. They are at the beginning of the planning stage. Unanimously agreed and suggested we may want to consider making it a community day.

·         AJB website needs updating. Amy will send Jim meeting minutes to add. Ask Jim if he would like help with website, if so request volunteers.
