A I H L:2010 LEAGUE RULES

PLAYING RULES
1.  All TEAMS to have at least a 66% INSURANCE CONTENT per team
2.  MINIMUM AGE for players is 25 years unless involved in the INSURANCE INDUSTRY.
3.  INSURANCE CONTENT :  1.  Either member of the family working in the Insurance     Industry.  2.  Sub-contractors to the Insurance Industry.  3.  Life Insurance agents          4.  People who played in the AIHL in the past.  
4.  TEAM ROSTERS to be finalized at the meeting in the FEBRUARY meeting.  Any players added after that time will not be allowed in the PLAYOFFS unless approved by the League Infractions Committee.
5.  Every player must have a number on his or her sweater.  No two players on a team can have the same number.  And all sweaters must be the same basic color.  NO TAPE
6.  All team individuals must sign participant certificate.
7.  All players must wear a C.S.A. approved helmet, and complete equipment from hockey pants down.  Failure to do so will disqualify that player from playing in that game.  NO EXPECTIONS!!!
8.  Adoption of Old Timers Hockey Rules - NO BODY CHECKING!!
9.  No SLAP SHOTS.  Definition: Any time the player raises their stick above the knee prior to shooting the puck or FAKING A SLAPSHOT.  Failure to comply - the player will get a MINOR PENALTY.
10.  A player shooting or slapping at the puck after the play is stopped by the referee’s whistle.  Is to be assessed a MINOR PENALTY.
11.  High sticking the puck  - the play will be blown down and dropped inoffensive         end.                                       .
12.  HIGHSTICKING MAJOR.  Making contact with another player, above the cross bar of the net or DRAWING BLOOD, a MAJOR "may" be called, at the discretion of the referee.  The player will also receive GAME MISCONDUCT.  The League Infractions Committee will review the call and may suspend the player further.
13.  FIGHTING.  There is NO FIGHTING allowed nor will it be tolerated.  A MAJOR and GAME MISCONDUCT will be called.  All FIGHTS will be reviewed by The League Infractions Committee and a further suspension may be handed out
14.  In the last 2 minutes of a game, a DELAY OF GAME PENALTY will result in a PENALTY SHOT.
15.  Three penalties instances given to any player in one game will result in GAME MISCONDUCT.  Two MINORS called at the same time will be counted as only one instance.
16.  Referees have the ability to call MATCH PENALTIES, in the event of any aggressive (verbal or abusive) action toward the referee.  The League Infractions Committee will review all MATCH PENALTIES and further SUSPENSIONS will be handed out.
17.  GOAL CREASE.  Players will be allowed to stand in the crease.  Goal will stand. 
18.  All line changes will be ON THE FLY & NOT AT PLAY STOPPAGES this includes stop time during the game. A DELAY OF GAME PENALTY will be called.  CHANGES can occur only when a goal or a penalty is called.
19.  ICING THE PUCK and TWO LINE PASSES will not be called.         
20.  There will be a 3 GOAL LIMIT per player per game.  Any additional goals will be nullified
21.  MERCY RULE:  A TEAM that is ahead by 10 GOALS the referee shall call the game COMPLETE, and are allowed to leave the ice.   NOTE:  only ten goals plus what the losing team scored will count.
22.  It is the TEAM CAPTAINS responsibility to help support the referee’s calls on the ice. 
23.  Only a “CAPTAIN or an ASSISTANT” (so marked on their sweaters) will be allowed to ask the referees about a call. All others will receive a MINOR PENALTY for Unsportsmanlike conduct. 
24.  All games to start at the appropriate start time Ex. 7:00AM (means 7:00 AM).  Referees are responsible for the puck dropping at the Official start time
25.  Teams must have 5 SKATERS and a GOALIE start the game.  If no goalie is on the ice to start the game.  The TEAM with the goalie will be given a Penalty Shot for each 5-minute allotment of time that a GOALIE is not in the net.  Maximum of 6 PENALTY SHOTS can be awarded.  As long as a goalie is being dressed in the dressing room.  (15 minutes grace will be allowed, however if the regular goalie shows up all penalty shots are to be taken).    A player may put on the BLOCKER AND CATCHING GLOVE AND FULL FACE MASK and play as a goalie if so desired.  When ready the GOALIE MUST WAIT FOR STOPPAGE OF PLAY BEFORE COMING ON THE ICE TO THE NET.   Should no one be willing to dress as a goalie, the GAME will be considered a DEFAULT and recorded as 10 – 0 on the game sheet.
26.  In the event two teams are tied.  FIRST the team with the most wins will advance.  SECOND the team with the best record record between.  THIRD the team with the best plus or minus overall will advance.  FOURTH the team with the least goals against will advance.  FIFTH the team with most goals will advance. 
27.  PLAYOFF GOALIE:  A  goalie may be acquired from another team if their goalie is unavailable                                                                                                             .  Otherwise a player must put the pads on or default the PLAYOFF game.
28.  During the PLAYOFFS the last 2 minutes of the game will be STOP TIME if within 2 goals.  All pen. will still be 3 minutes in duration.  No reduction in penalty time.                      
29.  Tied PLAYOFF games will be decided by a 5 MAN shoot out, then sudden death with both sides shooting per round.  No shooter is allowed to shoot twice until all players on the shortest bench have shot.
30.  The PLAYOFF FINAL will have a 5-minute, last 2-minute stop time, sudden death overtime period.  Then a shoot out as previously noted.
