Simpson ties mark in Newark victory

By BUDDY HURLOCK / The News Journal

No. 1 Newark won 41-6 at Alexis I. du Pont on Friday as Butch Simpson tied Bruce Reynolds' state record for the most wins by a high school football coach - 218. Simpson was humble about the accomplishment. He was more concerned that his Yellowjackets were only ahead 14-0 at halftime, turning the ball over twice in the first half. Full Story.

Tigers Blank Delcastle, 19 - 0, October 16, 2004

A.I. played a very strong defensive game and defeated Delacastle 19 - 0. This was the first shut out for the Tigers this century! The game was close through out the first half but the Tigers defense wore Delcastle down the second half. The Tigers picked off 7 Delcastle passes. Ken Hopkins had 3 of the interceptions and ran one back for a touch down. He was the player of the game. Sonya Tadjalli scored her first extra point.

GO Tigers!
