Bring Your Own Team Competitive Divisions

COMMUNITY = RECREATION + COMPETITIVE

Families:

The demand for highly competitive youth baseball in our community continues to grow and our League will continue to meet the needs of our young athletes. New this coming season to the AFPBA, we now offer competitive divisions at our Mustang and Bronco levels. The League has always enjoyed the friend and coach requests to form teams at our Shetland and Pinto divisions, but never allowed the teams to continue playing as they developed more advanced skills and played at higher levels as a team. We are now able to make this change and let these teams stay together. No other baseball league in the area provides this opportunity.

Our competitive divisions will play by the PONY National rules, offering more of a "real" baseball development. We will provide a 12 game season with approximately 1/2 of the games at our home Akimel fields and remaining games will require travel to play against other competitive teams in Scottsdale, Chandler, Queen Creek and Casa Grande. The competitive divisions may include Club teams or just a group of players that want to continue playing together. At the end of the regular season, these full teams can enter the PONY State All Star tournaments for opportunities to qualify for regional and national tournaments. The competitive division teams will not face the recreational division teams in any games.

AFPBA will continue to offer the recreational baseball experience at all Divisions. We are working to improve the rules at the recreational division to allow more competitive and enjoyable games.

Player registration is currently open for the Spring 2014 season.

If you are interested in the competitive division, please contact Ron Ensley for more details on how to register.
