  Fri 8/1/08 6am - 7:30am 13 Miles Long Mount Vernon Bike Trail - South

We will meet at the Hoffman Complex.  The run will begin promptly at 0600.
The course begins by heading east on Eisenhower from the Hoffman Complex.  Go through the traffic circle on the right side of the circle.  Follow red brick sidewalk to Jamieson Street and turn right.  Follow sidewalk down to the end of the street.  It will end at a T-intersection (West Street).  Go right and then an immediate left.  Turn right at the next street.  Take the next left onto Wilkes Street.  Follow Wilkes Street across Route 1.  Make a right at S. Washington Street.  Be sure to stay on the right side of the street until you cross over the new Wilson Bridge.  Cross the street and get onto the Mount Vernon Trail.  Follow the trail to the Belle Haven Park and Marina area.  If you turn around there, it will be 6 miles back to the Hoffman Complex.  You may use the toilet or get water at the park.  Continue your run to the next water point, be sure to hydrate when you get the opportunity.  The turn around point is another couple of miles beyond the second water point. Turn around and head back to the Hoffman Complex retracing your step.
Hoffman Center Complex
  Fri 8/8/08 6am - 8am 14 Miles Long A group will meet here at the Hoffman Complex and begin the run at 0600.  Please be sure to bring water along.  There is no drinking fountain on the course we are running.  There is a latrine but it is roughly 6+ miles out (north of the airport).

Mount Vernon North:  10, 12, 14 miles

Our course will take us east on Eisenhower Ave.  We will make a left at Elizabeth Lane and run toward the Federal Courthouse, veer right (at Courthouse Sq.).  Make a left at Dulaney Str. and follow the street for about two blocks.  Just before Duke Street veer left and go through the tunnel (under Duke Str.).  When you emerge from the tunnel, you will be on Diagonal Road.  Transition to the right-hand side of the street.  Take Diagonal to King Street.  Follow King Str. all the way down to the Harbor (past Union Str.).  Once there, we will pick up the Mt. Vernon Bike Trail (city route) north along the waterway toward National Airport.  We will run just over 7 miles out and return.  The turn around point is near Washington National Airport (Gravelly Point).

ON THE WAY BACK:  When you emerge from the tunnel, take the immediate right onto Jamieson Ave.  Follow Jamieson around in front of the Court House and back up toward the Hoffman Complex.  Stay on Jamieson and then make the left onto Stovall Street.  Complete the run at locker rooms. 

The course has more street crossings than any other course so please be careful.
Hoffman Center Complex
  Fri 8/15/08 6am - 8am 13 Miles Long A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex and being the run at 0600.

Begin by heading east on Eisenhower from the Hoffman Complex.  Go through the traffic circle on the right side of the circle.  Follow red brick sidewalk to Jameison Street and turn right.  Follow sidewalk down to the end of the street.  It will end at a T-intersection (West St.).  Go right and then an immediate left.  Turn right at the next street.  Take the next left onto Wilkes Street.  Follow Wilkes Street across Route 1 and S. Washington Street.  Make a right onto Royal Street.  Follow Royal until it runs into the Mt. Vernon Trail underneath the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.  Follow the trail to the Belle Haven Park and Marina area.  If you turn around there, it will be 7.5 miles back to the Hoffman Complex.  Continue your run for further distances.

Hoffman Center Complex
  Fri 8/22/08 6am - 8am 15 Miles Long We will meet at the Hoffman Complex.  The run will begin promptly at 0600.

The course begins by heading east on Eisenhower from the Hoffman Complex.  Go through the traffic circle on the right side of the circle.  Follow red brick sidewalk to Jamieson Street and turn right.  Follow sidewalk down to the end of the street.  It will end at a T-intersection (West Street).  Go right and then an immediate left.  Turn right at the next street.  Take the next left onto Wilkes Street.  Follow Wilkes Street across Route 1.  Make a right at S. Washington Street.  Be sure to stay on the right side of the street until you cross over the new Wilson Bridge.  Cross the street and get onto the Mount Vernon Trail.  Follow the trail to the Belle Haven Park and Marina area.  If you turn around there, it will be 6 miles back to the Hoffman Complex.  You may use the toilet or get water at the park.   Fri 9/19/08 6am - 7:45am LT, 8K or 10K Tune Up TBD Hoffman Center Complex
  Fri 9/26/08 6am - 8am 10 Miles Long (Pentagon Run) Runners will meet at the Hoffman Complex at 0555.  The group will depart the Hoffman Complex at 0600 for the Eisenhower Metro Station.  Each person will purchase their metro fare card and board the train (one-way fare $1.90).  Exit at the Pentagon Metro Station and emerge from the station facing South Parking.  Walk around the building and in the direction of Washington BLVD (Route 27).  There is a trail located at the far corner of the Pentagon, in the area of the new Pentagon Memorial.  The run will begin there.

The course back will take us toward Memorial Circle.  Follow the trail along Route 27.  It will take you over Route 110 and past the entrance to North Parking and GW Parkway.  Just past the entrance to GW Parkway, turn right at the trail intersection.  Run directly toward the Potomac River and cross the GW Parkway.  Go right on the trail.  This is the Mount Vernon Trail.  Follow this all the way to Old Town Alexandria and follow the city route after passing the Marina.  After passing through the harbor area, follow King Street back up to Diagonal Road and take the tunnel to the other side of Duke street.  Turn right on Jameison and follow it all the way to Mill street.  Turn left at Mill and finish the run at the locker room.

Be sure to hydrate and bring water.

  Mon 7/30/07 6:30am - 7:45am 8 Miles Long A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex.  We will begin the run by heading west on Eisenhower Ave.  Run to Cameron Run Trail and make a right.  Follow the trail all the way to Van Doran.  Run along Van Doran on the access road.  When access road ends, follow sidewalk up to traffic light at the top of the hill.  Make a right (onto Kenmore)and proceed to Seminary Road.  Turn right on Seminary and follow it all the way to Quaker Lane.  Turn right on Quaker and proceed to Duke.  Cross Duke Street and make a left.  Proceed to tunnel and back to the Hoffman Complex. Hoffman Center Complex
  Wed 7/25/07 6am - 7:45am Threshold, 4Mile Tempo or 10 mile run with long hills A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex at 0600.  The workout may be conducted on the track at TC Williams HS or a prescribed route with hills. Hoffman Center Complex
  Tue 7/24/07 6am - 7am Basic Speed, 10 X 100 A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex at 0600 and jog over to TC Williams HS as a warm up.  You may also drive to the track.  TC Williams is located on King Street east of Quaker Lane or on Quaker Lane south of King. TC Williams HS
  Mon 7/23/07 6:30am - 7:30am 8 Miles Long A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex.  We will begin by running east on Eisenhower Ave toward downtown Alexandria.  We will run through the traffic circle and around to Jameison St., turn right.  We will pick up Wilkes and then down to Royal Street.  Follow Royal until it runs into the Mt Veron Trail.  Follow the trail all the way down just past Belle Haven Park and Marina.  Turnaround is near mile marker on trail.  Return to Hoffman Complex. Hoffman Center Complex
  Wed 7/18/07 6am - 7:30am VO2 Max, 5 X 2:30 min on hill A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex (at 0600) and jog over to the track at TC Williams HS.  

If you prefer to drive, TC Williams is located on King Street east of near N. Quaker Lane or on Quaker Lane, south of King.

  Mon 7/16/07 6:30am - 7:30am 8 Miles Long A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex.  We will begin the run by heading west on Eisenhower Ave.  Run to Cameron Run Trail and make a right.  Follow the trail all the way to Van Doran.  Run along Van Doran on the access road.  When access road ends, follow sidewalk up to traffic light at the top of the hill.  Make a right and proceed to Seminary Road.  Turn right on Seminary and follow it all the way to Quaker Lane.  Turn right on Quaker and proceed to Duke.  Cross Duke Street and make a left. Begin by heading east on Eisenhower from the Hoffman Complex.  Go through the traffic circle on the right side of the circle.  Follow red brick sidewalk to Jamieson Street and turn right.  Follow sidewalk down to the end of the street.  It will end at a T-intersection (West Street).  Go right and then an immediate left.  Turn right at the next street.  Take the next left onto Wilkes Street.  Follow Wilkes Street across Route 1 and S. Washington Street.  Make a right onto Royal Street.  Follow Royal until it runs into the Mt. Vernon Trail underneath the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.  Follow the trail to the Belle Haven Park and Marina area.  If you turn around there, it will be 7.5 miles back to the Hoffman Complex.  Continue toward the second water fountain.  Turnaround is approximately .5 miles from the next water fountain.  If you reach the next water fountain, that is six miles out. We will begin the run by heading north on Mill Rd. to west on Eisenhower Ave.  Run to Cameron Run Trail and make a right.  Follow the trail all the way to Van Doran.    This route is approximately 3.5 miles, with the return it is 7 miles. Hoffman Center Complex

  Mon 7/2/07 6:30am - 7:45am 7 Miles Long (Southern Route) A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex.  We will begin the run by heading east on Eisenhower Ave.  Transition to the right side of the street. Run through the traffic circle to the right and continue to next light and turn right (Jamieson).  Run down to end of street (West) and turn right.  Make next left.  Run to next street and turn right.  Go left at next street (Wilkes). Continue uphill to the light.  Go through light and through park.  Continue on that street (WIlkes), cross over S. Washington, run down to Royal and turn right.  Pick up trail and run out to the picnic area at Belle Haven.  Turn around and head directly to the Hoffman complex. Hoffman Center Complex

Follow Eisenhower Ave until you come upon Cameron Run Trail and turn right.  Follow the trail all the way down and proceed under Duke Street.  Go left after Duke Street.  Go all the way down until the trail merges with Van Dorn and turn around.  Follow same route back to the Hoffman Complex. Hoffman Center Complex
  Thu 2/15/07 6:30am - 7:30am 6 Miles Easy Course begins by heading out toward Mill Rd.  Turn left and then look for the tunnel (under the rail lines) on the right.  Go through the tunnel and go to the left.  This will take you to Duke Street (headed west).  Follow Duke Street for until you see N. Quaker Lane.  Go right on N. Quaker and up the hill.  Make a left onto Seminary Road.  Follow Seminary to Howard Street.  Next turn left onto Jordan Street.  You will come back to Duke Street.  Cross Duke and go right, at the next traffic light, turn left and into the parking lot of the high-rise building.  Look for Cameron Run Trail, go left on the trail and follow it back to Eisenhower Avenue.  Follow Eisenhower Ave down to Mill Rd and then back to the Hoffman Complex. Hoffman Center Complex
  Wed 2/14/07 6:30pm - 7:45pm 6 Miles Easy (Recovery Run) Course begins by heading out toward Mill Rd.  Turn left and then look for the tunnel (under the rail lines) on the right.  Go through the tunnel and go to the left.  This will take you to Duke Street (headed west).  Follow Duke Street for approximately 2.25 miles and look for S. Jordan Street.  Just past S. Jordan, look for he high-rise apartment BLDG on the left.  At the next crossing, go left and follow parking lot around to the right and look for Cameron Run Trail.  Go right on the trail.  Follow is up to N. Paxton Street.  Turn around at N. Paxton and take Cameron Run Trail back to Eisenhower Ave.  Follow Eisenhower Ave down to Mill Rd and then back to the Hoffman Complex.   Tue 2/13/07 6am - 7:30am 10X100 Striders A small group will meet at the Hoffman Complex and jog over to the track as a warm-up.  You may drive to the track and conduct warm-up laps there.

Course begins by heading out toward Mill Rd.  Turn left and then look for the tunnel (under the rail lines) on the right.  Go through the tunnel and go to the left.  This will take you to Duke Street (headed west).  Follow Duke Street for until you see N. Quaker Lane.  Go right on N. Quaker and up the hill.  Make a left onto Seminary Road.  Follow Seminary to Howard Street.  Next turn left onto Jordan Street.  You will come back to Duke Street. Pegram St.  Follow same route back to the Hoffman Complex.

Proceed up to N. Quaker Lane and turn left onto Seminary Road.  Run all the way down to Van Dorn and make a left.  Continue to Holmes Run Pkwy and onto Cameron Run Trail. Walk around the building and in the direction of Washington BLVD (Route 27).  There is a trail located at the far corner of the Pentagon, in the area of the new Pentagon Memorial (Route 27 on ramp).  The run will begin there.

The course back will take us toward Memorial Circle.  Follow the trail along Route 27.  It will take you over Route 110 and past the entrance to North Parking and GW Parkway.  Just past the entrance to GW Parkway, turn right at the trail intersection.  Run directly toward the Potomac River and cross the GW Parkway.  Go right on the trail.  This is the Mount Vernon Trail.  Follow this all the way to Old Town Alexandria and follow the city route after passing the Marina.  After passing through the harbor area, follow King Street back up to Diagonal Road and take the tunnel to the other side of Duke street.  Turn right on Jameison and follow it all the way to Mill street.  Turn left at Mill and finish the run at the locker room.

Be sure to hydrate and bring water.
Hoffman Center Complex
  Thu 1/18/07 6:30am - 7:15am 5 Miles Easy A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex at 0600.  We will begin by heading north toward Mill St.  We will take a left on Mill and run around to Eisenhower Ave.  We will then head west on Eisenhower to Cameron Trail.  Turn right at the trail and head down toward Duke, then turn right and follow Duke toward Old Town.  Take tunnel and come back to Hoffman Complex. Hoffman Center Complex
  Wed 1/17/07 6:30am - 7:40am 6 Miles (Recovery Pace) A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex for a recovery run.  This run is designed to allow your muscles a chance to recovery from the previous days speed work.

The course is an out and back run along Eisenhower Ave to the Cameron Run Trail.  Turn around is at N. Pegram Street.  This route is approximately 3 miles, with the return it is just over 6 miles. Hoffman Center Complex

Course begins by heading out toward Mill Rd.  Turn left at Mill and follow it around to Eisenhower Ave.  Turn right on Eisenhower.  Follow Eisenhower Ave until you come upon Cameron Run Trail and turn right.  Follow the trail all the way down and proceed under Duke Street.  Go left after Duke Street.  Go all the way down to N. Pegram St.  Follow same route back to the Hoffman Complex.

  Sun 1/14/07 8am - 9:30am 10 Miles Long (Pentagon Run) Runners will meet at the Hoffman Complex and at 0600 for the Eisenhower Metro Station.  Each person will purchase their metro fare card and board the train (one-way fare $1.90).  Exit at the Pentagon Metro Station and emerge from the station facing South Parking (go to the left after passing thru the Turnstile).   Wed 1/10/07 6:30am - 7:45am 6 Miles Easy Course begins by heading east on Eisenhower.  Transition to the right side of the street and follow all the way to the traffic circle.  Go arond traffic circle to the right and follow brick sidewalk to Jameison and turn right.  Follow Jameison to the end and make a right onto West.  Run between barriers and go to the left.  Make the first right and then turn left onto Wilkes St.  Follow Wilkes to Route 1 and cross to the other side.  Run through park and continue on Wilkes.  Follow Wilkes and go through tunnel to Union, turn left.  Follow Union until it make the left turn and then turn around at the next street.  Retrace steps to the Hoffman Complex..   Mon 1/8/07 6:30am - 7:30am 5 Miles Easy 6 Miles
Course begins by heading out toward Mill Rd.  Turn left and then look for the tunnel (under the rail lines) on the right.  Go through the tunnel and go to the left.  This will take you to Duke Street (headed west).  Follow Duke Street for approximately 2.25 miles and look for S. Jordan Street.  Just past S. Jordan, look for he high-rise apartment BLDG on the left.  At the next crossing, go left and follow parking lot around to the right and look for Cameron Run Trail.  Go right on the trail.  Follow is up to N. Paxton Street.  Turn around at N. Paxton and take Cameron Run Trail back to Eisenhower Ave.  Follow Eisenhower Ave down to Mill Rd and then back to the Hoffman Complex.
Hoffman Center Complex
  Wed 10/4/06 6:30am - 7:30am 5 Miles Easy Our course will take us east on Eisenhower Ave.  We will make a left at Elizabeth Lane and run toward the Federal Courthouse, veer right (at Courthouse Sq.).  Make a left at Dulaney Str. and follow the street for about two blocks.  Just before Duke Street veer left and go through the tunnel (under Duke Str.).  When you emerge from the tunnel, you will be on Diagonal Road.  Transition to the right-hand side of the street.  Take Diagonal to King Street.  Follow King Str. all the way down to the Harbor (past Union Str.).  Once there, we will pick up the Mt. Vernon Bike Trail (city route) north along the waterway toward National Airport.  We will run just over 2.5 miles out and return.  Hoffman Center Complex

  Mon 9/11/06 6:30am - 7:45am 9 Miles Long A group will meet at the Hoffman Complex.  We will begin the run by heading west on Eisenhower Ave.  Run to Cameron Run Trail and make a right.  Follow the trail all the way to Van Doran.  Run along Van Doran on the access road.  When access road ends, follow sidewalk up to traffic light at the top of the hill.  Make a right and proceed to Seminary Road.  Turn right on Seminary and follow it all the way to Quaker Lane.  Turn right on Quaker Lane and proceed to Duke.  Cross Duke Street and make a left.  Continue on Duke (toward downtown) to Carlyle Street, make a right.  Proceed to Jamieson and make a right.  Continue on Jamieson toward the Hoffman Complex.  Make a left onto Stovall and finish at the locker room.

  Mon 9/4/06 8am - 9:30am 8 Miles Long A group will meet at the corner of S. Joyce Street and Columbia Pike, along side the Arlington National Cemetary (ANC).  There is a Citgo gas station on the opposite corner.  You will also be able to see the new Air Force Memorial just up the hill.  There is parallel street parking on Joyce street in the direction of Henderson Hall.  

The route will take us in the direction of the Pentagon.  We will pick up the trail that runs along route 27 toward Memorial Circle.  Once at Memorial Circle, we will cross Memorial Bridge and head toward the Lincoln Monument.  We will run along the Mall toward the Capital Building.  Our turn around will be 2nd SE street behind the Capital.  We will retrace the route along the opposite side of the Mall.
