About Agawam Youth Baseball

Agawam Youth Baseball was put together in winter of 2007 for the primary purpose of offering travel baseball to the boys and girls of Agawam.  The organizations goal is to provide a structure for any player in Agawam to partcipate in travel baseball.

 

Agawam Youth Baseball obtained a probationary charter to the TRI TOWN BASEBALL LEAGUE in Spring of 2007.  In the winter of 2007 the TRI TOWN board of directors and member organizations unanimously voted to give the Town of Agawam a charter in the TRI TOWN LEAGUE.

 AYB will be allowed to enter teams into the 8-10, 10-12, and 12-14 divisions of TRI TOWN.  This will give players in Agawam the experience of playing teams in: Ludlow, Wilbraham, East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, South Hadley, Monson, Hampden, Granby, and Ware.

Teams playing in the 8-10 division will be able to play in a "open" division against teams from all over and with various skill sets to the other teams.

 Players playing in the 10-12 division will gain the experience of playing on a 70ft diamond and with major league rules (leading and stealing and pitching from a stretch) which will give them excellent baseball knowledge and skills.  The 10-12 division has levels that each team adn player can compete in.  Teams may enter A,B, or C divisions.

The 12-14 division was primarily set up for those players who want to continue with baseball that are not playing high school baseball.  Although players may play in high school and for Tri Town, the leagues primarily there for players wishing to continue playing baseball that are not in high school.

 

All teams that participate in AYB will be eligible for post season playoffs and will be allowed to particiate in many local tournaments as well.

 

AYB will have evaluations for the 2009 season in September of 2008.  Date and time will be published shortly.
