GLBA SEEKS OWNERSHIP FOR TWISTERS!
The GLBA is seeking an invidual or group to organize and manage (own) the Adrian Twisters as a business entity seperate from the GLBA with seperate management.
The Twisters are one of three pre-approved franchises (others are Southeast Michigan Skyforce and Flint Seminoles) that will be grandfathered into the Great Lakes Basketball Association as a veteran franchise.
Presently the Twisters are approved to play in Michigan's Lenawee County.
Forming, owning, and operating a franchise is simply a hobby!
While simply a hobby and recreation, each franchise is business. They are expected to be a legally registered business which is owned and operated seperate from the Great Lakes Basketball Association.
The estimated average yearly cost to operate a franchise is $50,000-$75,000. Helping to offset the costs they will attract fans to their games, sell tickets for admission, sell advertising & sponsorship options, sell game programs, sell souvenirs, sell 50/50 tickets, etc..

WHAT IS SEMI-PRO?
Semi-professional is a cross between the adult Y-Center type leagues and the professional level leagues.
Everybody involved retains their amateur status, with little to no pay being received. From this aspect it is not any different than the Y-Center or city recreation type leagues. IT IS A HOBBY!
While a hobby, even for ownership, each franchise is a legally registered business that is owned and operated seperate from their league (the GLBA).
The estimated cost of doing business for a semi-pro organization is $50,000-$75,000 per year for basketball.
To offset the costs of doing business each franchise will attract fans to their games, sell tickets for admission, sell advertising & sponsorship options, sell game programs, sell souveirs, sell 50/50 tickets, etc.. From this aspect it is no different than the professional level.

PLAYER INFORMATION
STATUS OF THE TWISTERS DEPENDS ON THE ABILITY OF THE GLBA TO FIND OWNERSHIP FOR THE TWISTERS!
Presently the Great Lakes Basketball Association intends to begin play in March/April of 2006.
Each franchise in the GLBA will have both, a men's and women's basketball team. To play you must be 18 or older.
ALL involvement with the league and it's franchises is simply a hobby. This means that there is little or no pay involved, and in most cases no pay.
Each franchise is responsible for selecting their own coaches, players, and staff.
The GLBA WILL NOT hold tryouts for players. This is completely up to each franchise as to when they have tryouts, whether they have tryouts, etc..
If you are interested in playing for the Twisters and even owning the Twisters (players can own franchises) simply click on the handout.
By filling out the player interest forms you are committing yourself to playing for the Twisters. If ownership can not be found for the 2004-2005 season your registration forms will go into the GLBA's general talent pool and be distributed to all franchises.
