Accusource MAA 7 year olds: Welcome

Baseball Season has started!!

My name is Shawn Collins and I will coaching your kids this year for Rookie Baseball @ MAA. I called everyone on Saturday and only got a few of you so I wanted to send everyone a email. Hopefully the email address's I have are the correct ones.

To give everyone a little info on me, I have been part of  MAA for the last 8 years, my older son played baseball up to Majors I was a assistant coach on may of his teams and  I have been involved in coaching my daughter and son in the last 2 years in pee-wee and t-ball.I also am on the MAA Board as Hockey Director, as which my kids have been playing for the last 8 years. I love coaching and teaching kids. My main goal this year is for your son/daughter to have fun and also learn the fundamentals of baseball which they will hopefully build on as they move forward to Novice division next year.

We will be having our first practice tonight @ 6:00pm at the baseball fields behind Schweitzer elementary school. It should be the field right when you pull in with the backstop.

Please have the kids wear sweatpants/baseball pants, spikes and a hat. As of right now I do not have the full practice schedule because I haven't been given the days I have the fields yet. I would like to Practice 2-3 days a week until the season starts. It looks like we will do 2 during the week and 1 on Saturday, I will have more information on this mid-week.

I'm also in dire need of 2 coaches (moms or dads) and a team mom. The team mom will be in charge of producing a snack list and helping in the dugout on Game days. The 7 year old program is a lot different from the T-ball we played last year, and I will have handouts with the rules and game details with in the first 2 practices.

I plan on having practice's for about a 1 hour maybe a 1 hour 15 minutes. With this age, any longer than this, the kids start to wander and get tired. Practice's will be broken up in "stations". We will have a hitting station, fielding station and as the season progress's a pitching station where we can work with the kids on their fundamentals.

Any questions please feel free to email me or call me @ 215-651-8756.

Looking forward to a great season!!

Coach Shawn
