WARRIORS, YANKEES, & CHAPULINES = CHAMPIONS!
The Winter ’04 season was capped with three very competitive championships with the WARRIORS, YANKEES, and CHAPULINES winning their respective divisions, today.

The best game of the day was between the 10-3 YANKEES and 11-1-1 BANDITS. It took the YANKEES 10 innings to come away with a 7-5 victory. The BANDITS took an early 3-0 lead with the help of RUDY RAMIREZ’s home run in the bottom of the third. But by the end of the fifth the YANKEES had tied up the score. MIKE ANDRADE homered in the top of eighth to give the YANKEES a 4-3 lead. SERAFIN SILVA tied the score in the BANDITS half of the inning with a run scoring triple. The game remained tied until the YANKEES plated three runs in the top of the tenth. By the winning the B Division title, the YANKEES have an earned a spot in the A Division for the summer season.

In the A Division, the championship savvy WARRIORS played possum with the defending champion LA DODGERS before coming away with a 9-6 win. Holding a 6-4 lead entering the bottom of the eighth, the LA DODGERS imploded like an inexperienced playoff team. Three very costly errors in the inning allowed the WARRIORS to score five runs all but clinching the championship. The LA DODGERS went quietly in the top of the ninth as the WARRIORS celebrated their third championship in the last four seasons.

LOS CHAPULINES were able to slip by ATLIXCO 8-7 to take the C Division title. It was a walk-off single by WALTER ORTIZ that clinched the victory. Trailing 4-0 to ATLIXCO going into the bottom of the sixth, LOS CHAPULINES put five runs on the board for their first lead of the game. Struggling to find a consistent pitcher LOS CHAPULINES called on young right-handed third baseman DANIEL in the top of the fifth. He was able to hold down ATLIXCO but discovered recording the final out of a championship game it not that simple. With two outs and trailing 7-5, ATLIXCO right fielder JAVIER plated two runs when his grounder rolled right under the glove of GUSTAVO REYNOSO, the CHAPULINES shortstop. The huge error ended up not costing LOS CHAPULINES as ORTIZ came up with the clutch base hit.

A Division All-Stars Slaughter B Division Stars!
The A Division throttled the B Division stars 15-3 in 7 innings. The game was called when it obvious there was no come back in sight. LA DODGERS shortstop JORGE HERNANDEZ shined bright for the A Division stars blasting a home run onto the hill in left center (at Eagle Rock #1). He also made a diving stop to his right on a sharply hit ball to begin a double play.

ARMANDO CARLIN JR. was the starting pitcher for the A stars and surrendered three runs over three innings. RICK SMITH, the INDIANS first baseman, hit the hardest ball off of CARLIN, lining a shot into the trees in left field. SMITH ended the day with two doubles.

In relief, RONNIE RUBIO silenced the bats of the B stars for the next three innings as the A stars piled on the runs. This was the second consecutive win for the A Division in the All-Star game.

BANDITS BEGIN WITH A WIN; JEREZ LOSES A HIGH SCORING AFFAIR!
Llaneros sum '04
Los Llaneros picked up win number one yesterday, 6-5 over the Braves
It's always fun to see how the championship teams will perform when they move up in divisions and for this season it is the BANDITS and JEREZ who will be facing such a challenge.

The BANDITS defeated a new team called the YANKEES 8-6. The YANKEES were started by a couple of players from the HIGHLAND BRAVES. But the BANDITS will be tough this season with their formidable pitching staff.

JEREZ lost 16-13 to the CACHOROS. The CACHOROS won only four games last season when it was their first time in the A Division, which is the category JEREZ falls into now. It will be interesting to see whether or not JEREZ can at least play .500 ball in their new division.

MISFITS, DODGERS A, LA DODGERS, POTROS REMAIN UNBEATEN!
After three weeks the MISFITS & DODGERS A of the C Division are both 3-0 and heading towards a big match December 5th. Provided they win next Sunday's games, they will be facing each other at 4-0. Both teams have similar make-ups with a mix of high schoolers and veteranos of Sunday league baseball.

The LA DODGERS have played twice this season and have two wins just like a defending champ should have. Today they defeated los LLANEROS (2-1), their opponent of last season's Championship game, 10-7. Things look good next week for the LA DODGERS because they will be facing winless JEREZ (0-3).

Los POTROS of the B Division are thus far enjoying their move down as they have already collected their third win. Last season in the A Division they only won four games. Although one of their wins was via forfeit, los POTROS have shown an ability to score often. Sunday they scored 18 runs. We'll see how they fare next week against a playoff team of last season, the HIGHLAND BRAVES (2-1).

FINALLY BACK TO THE GAMES!
Week 4 is in the books and we are beginning to see some trends in the standings.

The A division has shown a lot of parity. Six teams in the division have at least two wins. Los CAXCANES have been the surprise of the division winning three games and averaging 13.5 runs a game. They are a 1/2 game back of the undefeated and defending champion LA DODGERS (3-0).

The B Division is led by the defending C Division champion BANDITS (3-0-1). They hold a 1/2 game lead on three teams including the YANKEES, who throttled los POTROS 16-3 today. Los POTROS were undefeated going into the contest. One big surprise in the division is that last season's runners up, the INDIANS, have yet to score a win. They are currently 0-2-2 after getting shutout 1-0 by the BRONX BOMBERS, who until today had not had a win.

DODGERS A and the MISFITS are controlling the C Division with records of 4-0. Due to the rainouts the two teams will not face each other until the final week of the season on February 13.

LA DODGERS, BANDITS, & DODGERS A IN 1ST 'TIL 2005!
The three first place teams are all undefeated and will stay that until the season resumes January 9, 2005.

The LA DODGERS haven't lost in months going back to last season. They slipped by los CACHOROS 8-5 today.

The BANDITS also haven't lost in a while. They took the C Division championship and haven't slowed down in the B Division. Today they defeated LOS 40'S, 10-3.

DODGERS A are the only undefeated team in the C Division after the MISFITS (4-1) lost last weekend on a protest. The DODGERS A beat up DODGERS C 14-3 today.

POTROS POUND OUT 33 RUNS an A & C BASEBALL LEAGUE RECORD!
Apparently scoring 33 runs in one game is not limited to little league. Today the POTROS blistered DA BEARS 33-12 en route to their fifth win against one loss. Unfortunately for DA BEARS (1-5) the umpire could not invoke the mercy rule because the game only went five innings! How 'bout that 33 runs in five innings. Despite the 21 run margin of victory, the POTROS remain in third place behind the YANKEES (5-1), who the POTROS lost to earlier this season, and the first place BANDITS (5-0-1).

Speaking of the BANDITS, today they easily dispatched of the INDIANS 8-1 behind the strong pitching of BEN GARCIA. Showing no signs of rust he struck out the first six INDIANS (0-4-2) to start the game. Garcia is shown in the picture below sporting a shaved head celebrating last season's C Division championship.

WARRIORS SPANK LA DODGERS; MISFITS MOVE INTO 1ST PLACE TIE!
The seemingly perrinial A Division champion WARRIORS picked up a huge win today over the reigning champion LA DODGERS, 19-3. The A Division is so tight right now. Five teams are tied with four wins and trail the first place CAXCANES (5-3) by half a game.

In the C Division the preivously undefeated DODGERS A dropped their first game today 8-6 to the MISFITS. Two high school players who played prominent roles in the great start for the DODGERS A were absent and evidently they were needed.

The YANKEES (6-1) of the B Division easily thrashed the HIGHLAND BRAVES 13-1. The win kept the YANKEES a half game behind the BANDITS (6-0-1) for first place. DANNY CARRILLO threw an eight inning complete game allowing just three hits and one run. The YANKEES have been showing tremendous pitching and defense all year, and as proven in the stats, don't allow many runs per game. The YANKEES are only getting better and better and are eager to get into the playoffs to get the title.

EASTER SUNDAY HEAVENLY FOR YANKS, MISFITS, & WARRIORS!
If you have not seen the YANKEES of the B Division play this season, then you may be missing one of the best hitting teams the League has seen. After taking a six inning nap, the YANKEES (7-1) exploded for nine runs in the seventh. The inning was capped with a two-run monstrous blast from MIKE ANDRADE planting a shot over the trees in left at Eagle Rock #1. At the receiving end of the 16-3 beating were los TIGRES (4-3-1), who had tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a single that was turned into a 3-base error by the YANKEES right fielder

A week after capturing first place from the DODGERS A, the MISFITS in the C Division took care of business by discarding los REVELDES 22-5. The MISFITS at 7-1 hold a one game lead over los CHAPULINES who they will face on April 17th in the last game of the regular season.

In the top division it was the same ol' story between the WARRIORS and los LLANEROS. The WARRIORS (5-3) slapped up los LLANEROS 13-5. The leader in the A Division remains los CAXCANES (6-3) who picked up two more points via forfeit over the BRAVES. The WARRIORS and CAXCANES will face each other in two weeks in a must win for the WARRIORS who lost the first match-up 11-1.

Also as a side note, the TWINS that were in the B Division have been booted from the league. As a result, any teams that were scheduled to play them in the remaining weeks will be credited with a win via forfeit. This week DA BEARS were awarded a win.

TWO MORE TEAMS CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTHS!
APRIL 17TH'S SCHEDULE WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT TOMORROW'S COACHES MEETING.

LOS POTROS (B Division) and los CHAPULINES (C Division) both clinched playoff spots today. Los Potros snuck by los TIGRES 7-6 while los CHAPULINES trounced the DODGERS B 21-2. So only one more spot remains open for both the B & C Division.

Meanwhile, in the A Division with several teams needing to make up past games the playoff picture is still uncertain. The one exception is los CAXCANES who ended their regular season at 7-4. They fell today to the WARRIORS 7-6 in 10 innings. With the win the WARRIORS improved to 6-3. They need to make-up two more games, while the LA DODGERS need three more games, because of this the final standings are still up in the air. The regular season for los CERVECEROS, CACHOROS, and CAXCANES is over. Both los CERVECEROS and CACHOROS finished the season at 5-6 making playoff spots unlikely for them.

SEVEN TEAMS HAVE CLINCHED PLAYOFF BERTHS!
Here are the seven teams who have clinched playoff berths. Only the MISFITS have clinched the regular season championship every other playoff seed will be decided this Sunday.

A Division

CAXCANES

B Division

PLAYOFF POSSIBILITIES

In the B Division if the HIGHALND BRAVES sweep their double header this Sunday they will clinch the #4 seed. If they only win one game, they will need some help to make the post-season. The only other teams who can claim the #4 seed are LOS TIGRES & LOS 40'S. LOS 40'S will need to upset the YANKEES to claim the #4 seed. Los Tigres will not play this Sunday rather they will play next Sunday, April 24th only if either the HIGHLAND BRAVES or LOS 40'S win this Sunday. If the HIGHLAND BRAVES & LOS 40'S lose their games then LOS TIGRES will get the #4 seed not needing to play on April 24th .

In the C Division, ATLIXCO controls their destiny. If they win they're in. They face the TITANS this Sunday. If they should lose, the TITANS will have a shot at the #4 seed. The TITANS will be forced to complete their suspended game versus the CARDINALS in week 1 (however, if ATLIXCO wins, the suspended game will be moot and not needed & left as a tie).

If the TITANS should win the suspended game, then they will be in the playoffs. If they lose the suspended game then the ASTROS get a shot, provided they win their final game versus the CARDINALS. If the ASTROS lose their last game and the TITANS lose their suspended game, the TITANS will back into the playoffs due to tie-breakers.

In the A Division, if the LA DODGERS, WARRIORS, & LLANEROS win at least one game this Sunday they will all be in. If the LA DODGERS win their final three games they will get #1 seed. If the WARRIORS sweep their double header they will get the #1 seed.

PLAYOFF TEAMS ARE SET!
A furious final Sunday provided us with a perfect segue into the post-season. Two teams in particular played really clutch last Sunday. The WARRIORS and HIGHLAND BRAVES swept their double headers to solidfy their playoff positions. By taking care of the LA DODGERS 15-14 and los LLANEROS 6-3, the WARRIORS captured first place in the A Division. The WARRIORS opponent in the first round will be los CERVECEROS, while the LA DODGERS will battle los CAXCANES.

Meanwhile, the HIGHLAND BRAVES pulled off impressive victories over los POTROS 11-10 and the BANDITS 7-6 to finish in third place in the B Division. They will face off against their rivals the YANKEES in the first round. Despite their loss, the BANDITS still finished atop their division and they will be matched up against the 7-4 POTROS.

The MISFITS are the #1 seed in the C Division, however, their oppponent will be determined Sunday. Because the ASTROS and ATLIXCO both finished with 14 points for the #4 seed, a one game playoff will be played. The winner of that game will face the MISFTS. The other playoff teams are the #2 CHAPULINES and #3 DODGERS A.

This season's playoffs will be a little different in that the first round of playoffs will be a best of three series with double-headers being played Sunday and any possible game #3's being played May 1st. The Championships will still be determined in a one game showdown.

Sunday, May 1
LA DODGERS & CHAPULINES CRUISE INTO FINALS!
The LA DODGERS will be able to defend their A Division title by virtue of their game #3 victory over los CAXCANES, 8-6. The WARRIORS, who defeated the LA DODGERS twice this season, will be the opponent for the LA DODGERS.

Meanwhile, los CHAPULINES trounced the DODGERS A in their game #3. 14-4. They will play for their first A & C Baseball League Championship versus an opponent yet to be decided. ATLIXCO and the MISFITS began their best of three series today, with the MISFITS taking game one. The second game was forfeited by the MISFITS. Next Sunday the series will be completed.

The B Division was set last week. The BANDITS will host the YANKEES in the finals.
