A1RecoveryBuzz: Welcome

BUZZ REPRESENTS ARK USSSA 10AAA

WITH A 5th PLACE FINISH IN THE WORLD SERIES

After a long hot week of good competitive baseball, the BUZZ came in 5th in the World Series of 10AAA in Southhaven, MS. From Sunday at the opening ceremony to Saturday night our last game was a week that our players will never forget. Trading pins, meeting new players and experiencing the atmosphere of a World Series was great. Our players did an excellent job all week and played like the young men they have grown into this year. Something the players will remember for years to come.

Our first game in pool play was the Cardinals from Shawnee, KS. After the first couple of innings of World Series Jitters, our kids got on track and the BUZZ won 12 to 4.

Our 2nd game was played against the Collins Hills Eagles out of Lawrenceville, GA. If something could go wrong, it did for the BUZZ. Our offense was sluggish and our defense was struggling, the Eagles beat us 12 to 4.

Our 3rd was with the Delta Crush out of Greenville, MS. This game was a must win to get to the Championship bracket. Our kids knew that we had to win and win big.   The bats came alive, defense stepped up and all 9 players brought this game to a higher level. We won 15 to 1.

Coming out of Bracket play with 2 wins and 1 loss, seated #28. The only Arkansas team to make the Championship Bracket. We knew we had to perform to stay in the winner bracket to save pitching.

Our first game in the Championship bracket was against the Cheatum County Cardinals out of Pleasant View, TN. This was a good defensive game. It could have gone either way but the BUZZ pulled this one out with a 4 to 3 win.

Our 2nd game in the Championship bracket was with the Mid County Crush from Port Neches, TX. They jumped out on us 5 to 0 in the 2nd inning. We fought back but could not catch up and lost 8 to 6.

Putting us in the loser bracket, we had to either win or go home. We played the Kennett Cougars from Kennett, Mo. We played our hearts out and won 9 to 1.

Our next game was against the Ball Park Angels from Baton Rouge, LA. This was a very defensive pitched game. The only run scored was by a 3rd strike drop and an overthrow to 3rd base. One of the toughest games played yet and we won it 1 to 0.

Our 3rd game in the losers bracket, we played the Mid County Crush. Our players said that they were going to redeem themselves and they did. We came alive with the bats, defense was great with a win of 9 to 0 in 4 innings.

Making the final 8 we knew we would have to play our best to win each game from this point on. We met the Oklahoma Sandites from Sand Springs, OK. We knew the Oklahoma State Champs would be tough and they were. We took a 3 to 0 lead against them. They tied the game and we went into the 6th inning trailing 4 to 3.   With the bases loaded, 2 outs and our lead off at the plate, we fell short and lost a tough one 4 to 3.

With tears in their eyes and parents supporting the kids, we all realized the summer season was over. A season that teams only dream about. It started in January and finished with a great World Series appearance. Every player on the BUZZ learned how to take baseball to a higher level this year and to do what it took to be a team player and do whatever necessary to win. I want to thank every player for all of your hard work, time and sweat that you put forth to have a spectacular season.
