2009 DISTRICT CHAMPIONS
The 2009 editon of the Zane Trace Pioneers will be remembered for playing close games and having many come from behind victories. ZT finished the season 22-9 as they captured the school's ninth District Championship in the sport of baseball. It was the fourth District title in the decade. The Pioneers finished 10-4 in the Scioto Valley Conference which was a second place finish. The best SVC win was the last one when their arch-rival Adena came to Kinnikinnick looking for a gold baseball the last league game of the season. Zane Trace knocked off the Warriors in a 4-3 thriller. ZT had some very good non-league wins during the season against teams that had solid seasons like Circleville, Columbus Bishop Hartley, Waverly, Lucasville Valley and a doubleheader sweep of Logan Elm.
After a Sectional win against Nelsonville-York, the Pioneers trailed 4-0 to Lucasville Valley before pulling out a 5-4 District Semi-Final win. In the District title game, ZT again trailed 4-0 to Portsmouth West before winning 8-7. Zane Trace then battled Wheelersburg in the Regional Semi-Final. It was the fifth time in the last ten years that they had faced off in the tournament. The Pioneers trailed early 7-2, but mustered a comeback that just fell short as they lost to the Pirates 7-6.

It has been a great decade of baseball in Kinnikinnick. Thanks to the players for last 10 years.
