Off to 4A State!
Headed off to State on Thursday morning to continue the quest towards the Washington State 4A State Title. Our ladies get going first round on Friday May 27th at 10am vs Emerald Ridge of Puyallup. Wish them luck or better yet...make the trek over to the sunny side of the state to cheer them on in person! Games are held at Merkel Park (5701 N. Assembly, Spokane) Friday, May 20
Lady Falcons Win KingCo 4A Tournament; Finish 21-0 in KingCo 4A Softball
Our Lady Falcons finished off Eastlake last night in the KingCo 4A Tournament Final by a score of 9-3 behind solid pitching by Keelin Davis. After back-to-back solo home runs by Kayla O'Farrell and Katie Engelbrect in the 2nd inning, the Falcons jumped out to a commanding lead never to look back. Adding to the hit parade were Makenna Weir with 2 hits and 3 RBI's and Lauren Burchak with 2 hits and 2 RBI's. This finished a perfect regular season for the Lady Falcons now 21-0 heading into the State Championship in Spokane next weekend. Tuesday, May 17
Lady Falcons Win KingCo Championship 5-2
Our Lady Falcons continue their march into the State Championship by beating Eastlake last night 5-2 in the KingCo Championship game which secures a berth for Woodinville back to the State Championship tournament. Sara Anderson led off the top of the first with a hit and was moved around and scored by a rocket base hit by our co-captain Katie Engelbrecht to make it 1-0. Great pitching by Madi Schreyer had the Eastlake bats off for most of the night until the 5th where Eastlake was able to get a couple runs off a couple hits which tied the score 2-2 going into the 6th inning. Woodinville bounced back in the top of the 6th with a clutch base hit by Nicole Versace and Sara Anderson and with two outs Kayla O'Farrell delivered a hit to score Shelby Yasuda (pinch running for Nicole) to make it a 3-2 ballgame. Standing at second and third were Kayla and Sara when our co-captain Makenna Weir stepped in and drilled one to the fence for a double to score two more runs and make it a 5-2 game. Madi Schreyer then came out and delivered the goods by striking out the last batter with the bases loaded to seal the KingCo Championship for our Lady Falcons! Saturday, May 14
Woodinville Lady Falcons Fastpitch Perfect Season 19-0; Now KingCo Championship & Tournament
After going 19-0 with 13 shutouts, the Lady Falcons Fastpitch team ranked #1 in 4A Washington State and #40 in the ESPN Fab 50 nationally are just now dropping into the fast lane with sights on their ultimate goal. The Lady Falcons next step towards their ultimate goal of a State Championship is Monday in the KingCo Championship Game at 7pm at Hartman Park in Redmond. This game puts KingCo Crest Division Winner WHS vs KingCo Crown Division Winner Eastlake HS. The winner of this game is guaranteed a berth to State as either the #1 seed or #2 seed coming out of KingCo.

Lady Falcons bury Inglemoor 14-0
In a game of consistent pounding of the ball, Woodinville pumped out 14 runs on 21 hits with Madi Schreyer going yard twice. Lauren Burchak and Kayla O'Farrell pounded out doubles and nearly every Lady Falcon got into the offense either delivering an RBI or solid hit. Madi was on a roll with the rock as well handing out 10K's on 5 hits and no runs. This was Woodinvilles 13th shutout of the year. Now on to the KingCo Championship game on Monday! There was a scary moment in the 5th when a hard hit line drive by Nicole got up on Taylor Peacocke at third base deflecting off her mit into her stomach. Medics arrived to take her to the hospital but she is going to be ok with quite a bruise. The Lady Falcons are thankful for that and wish her well. Wednesday, May 11
12-0 Shutout of Roosevelt on Senior Night for our Ladies
Our ladies push through a soggy night to run-rule Roosevelt in 5 innings with a score of 12-0. Makenna Weir had 3 hits with a home-run and a double to lead the Falcons charge. Alison Wulfman went 2-2 while Shelby Yasuda just missed a home-run but ended up on standing on third base with a triple. Keelin Davis threw a one-hitter with 9 strike outs in the win. Bothell Goes Down to Lady Falcons 8-0
Keelin Davis smashed a two-run homerun in the second inning to put up enough offense to bury Bothell on Monday night. Lauren Burchak also got into the offense with a three-run homerun in the sixth. Madi Schreyer posted another shutout with 10 strikeouts on 4 hits through 7 innings. Saturday, May 7
Lady Falcons Take Care of Garfield 11-0
Our girls scored 11 runs belting 10 hits against Garfield last night. The game was capped off with a walk-off 2 run homer by Katie Englebrecht in the 6th to run-rule Garfield. Keelin Davis struck out 11 giving up just 2 hits in the game. Friday, May 6
Woodinville Cruises Through Newport, Ballard and Eastlake; Now 15-0
Woodinville made quick work of Newport, Ballard and Eastlake this week by a combined score of 27-3. Winning 16-1 the Lady Falcon bats were hot at Newport with a multi-home run game by Alex Boyd driving in 5 RBI's and a big grand slam home run by Katie Englebrecht. Madi Schreyer threw a 2 hitter with 6 strikeouts to keep Newport from having any chance of making this one close. Against Ballard our girls won 6-0 rattling off 13 hits with Kayla O'Farrell going 2 for 4 with a triple and Katie Englebrecht going 2 for 4 with a double and a triple. Keelin Davis pitched the shutout giving up 4 hits and striking out 3. Eastlake coming off a big win against 3A #2 ranked Juanita wasn't able to keep it rolling againast our Lady Falcons who put them away 5-2 behind great pitching by Madi Schreyer and nice hitting by Makena Weir going 3-4 at the plate. 2-1 Nailbiter Win vs Issaquah; Now 12-0
Great pitching again by both teams had the score 0-0 in the 7th when Issaquah was able to score a run on a rare error by the WHS defense. Behind for the fist time of the year, the Lady Falcons rallied in the bottom of the 7th with a lead-off hit by Emily Jackson who was pushed into home by Sara Anderson on a bunt-error by Issaquah. Sara then steals second and with two outs Kayla O'Farrell doubles to the wall to score Sara and the Lady Falcons pull out a 2-1 victory in the bottom of the 7th. Whew!

Falcons Celebrate Kathi Goertzen & 5-0 Shutout of Ballard
It was a special night for the Lady Falcons as they honored Kathi Goertzen with a donation while each of our girls wore a red-white hairband in respect for her and her family. Kathi's daughter pitched a good game against Woodinville but their bats were too much for the pitching and defense that Woodinville weilds. The Falcons jumped out early with a home-run in the first inning by Kayla O'Farrell and then more great pitching by Madi Schreyer on their way to a 5-0 win.

Lady Falcons continued to put up great offensive numbers while keeping their competition with little offense due to great pitching and defense. Wednesday, April 20
#1 4A Woodinville Pulls Out a 1-0 Extra Inning Thriller @ 3A #2 Juanita
This game was all about pitching between the two top pitchers in their respective State divisions Madi Schreyer and Alison Rhodes. 27 Strikeouts combined between the two of them, the WHS girls managed a run in a Tie-Breaker in the 9th inning to walk away with a win. Tuesday, April 19
Lady Falcons bring down Skyline 13-2
Katie Englebrecht goes yard and picks up 3 of Woodinville's 13 RBI's enroute to a 13-2 route of Skyline. Keelin Davis goes the distance with 9K's as the Falcons continue to roll through KingCo. Saturday, April 16
Woodinville now 6-0 with wins vs Garfield, Bothell and Inglemoor by combined score of 32-1
Making their way through KingCo, Falcon ladies score 32 and give up 1 run over three games against Garfield, Bothell and Inglemoor. Fighting through the rain the bats stayed hot and the pitching behind Madi and Keelin was just too good.

Start of 2011 Season!
March brings the beginning of an exciting season for the Woodinville Falcons Fastpitch. After finishing 2010 as KingCo Champoins and enjoying Senior Captains Maria Gau, crowned KingCo 4A MVP, and run producing leadership in 3rd baseman Cat Williams, the Falcons now the wiser are laser focused on repeating as KingCo 4A Champions charging into the State tournament with plans of finishing with a first place State trophy. A 4A State Championship hard earned in 2005 by the Woodinville Falcons behind the on and off the field leadership of Dani Weir, now back as an assistant coach to the Falcons to put together the final pieces of know-how to get the State 4A trophy back in the hands of the Woodinville Falcons. The team brings back a charged lineup of Pitching, Offense and Defense that is sure to have the Falcons poised to deliver on their goals of nothing short of a fantastic run at the 4A State Title. Let the games begin! |
