Fun event for the cross country team on July 1st
Get your High School teams together for the
First Annual "Running of the Bullipedes"!

Wednesday  ·  July 1, 2009  ·  6 p.m.  ·  Old Town Folsom

Presented by the Sacramento Running Association.
Held in conjunction with the Folsom Pro Rodeo Kick Off Celebration.

Howdy Pardners!

You've heard about the Running of the Bulls and about centipede running competitions. This event combines the two for the fun and wacky "Running of the Bullipedes"!

We're lookin' for a whole bunch of fun-lovin' folks to put together teams of five for a one mile gallop through Old Town Folsom to help kick off the Folsom Pro Rodeo. Western-style costumes encouraged!
  • Only 50 bucks to enter - at $10 a head it's a bonanza!
  • Team members must be "tethered" together and must run together.
  • Award for Best Bullipede Costume.
  • Awards for first three Bullipedes to finish.
  • All team members receive a dandy Bullipede art t-shirt.
  • Bullipede teams are limited to 100, so don't lollygag - enter soon!
  • Online entry only; no "Bullipede Day" entries... and yup, we've just got to say it: "THAT'S NO BULL!"

Be sure your team finishes within the half hour allowed, 'cause at 6:30 p.m. sharp there's a real, honest-to-goodness "running of the bulls:" the traditional Longhorn Cattle Drive through Old Town Folsom. You'd best skeedaddle to the sidelines to watch!

Then stay for the post-run hoe down with live entertainment. Browse the shops and partake of the vittles and libations being served at Old Town Folsom's famous saloons and eateries. The Folsom Pro Rodeo Kick Off - fun for the whole family!

Our first all weather track and field meet will be at Colfax High School this year... a place that can never host a home meet until late April usually, now is ready to go early. Will it also be our first meet as the Orange and White and Battle for the Spade will be held at Woodland High's granite track which is not ALL WEATHER?

Soon????

After a year break, Woodland High Track and Field hosted rival Davis Senior High for the bragging rights of winning the "Spade" and yes, it will take us another year...but next year,  it is coming home!!

Overall, a great meet for the team. Go to www.athletic.net to see meet results.

Buchanan Distance Fest

Friday....Feb. 28th....Distance Fest for our very "fit" distance runners went great....John McAnelly won the 800 on the same track that will host this year's state championships in 1:59.4; Matt Murphy and Pablo Diaz each ran the 3200 & 4x400 with Murphy setting two pr's with 10:26 and 55 flat for 400 while Diaz opened a new season with a fine 11:05.4 and 62.7; Billy Landis led off the 4x400 running a 54.7 leg and McAnelly countered with a huge 52.9 second leg.  Great early season meet....next year....let's take a dozen or more.
