Selection to Whetstone Athlete Hall of Fame
General Criteria:
After graduation, an athlete who has competed for Whetstone becomes eligible for induction into the Whetstone High School Athletic Hall of Fame if, during his/her career in ANY ONE SPORT, the athlete has accumulated NO FEWER THAN SEVEN (7) POINTS IN THAT SPORT according to the point system set forth below.
I. Varsity Letter - One (1) point for each Varisity Letter earned in the awarding sport.
II. Golden Brave Award - One (1) point for each Golden Brave Award received in the same sport.
III. Team Captain - One (1) point for each year as Captain in the same sport.
IV. All-League First Team Selection - In a team sport, a player is awardeed one (1) point for the first year selected to the All-League FIRST TEAM, two (2) points for a second year selection, four (4) points for a third year selection, and five (5) points for a fourth year selection. In sports for which individual champions are named, a similar number of points are awarded to an athlete for each year he/she qualifies as the Individiual League Champion or Runner-Up. In relay events, the points are apportioned among the participants on the League Champions or Runner-Up relay team.
V. ALL-DISTRICT - An All-District performer in a team sport earns two (2) points the first time honored, three (3) points for the second time honored, and five (5) points for the third and fourth year so honored. An athlete in an individual sport is awarded a similar number of points for each year the athlete qualifies for Regional or State competition. All-District relay points are apportioned among members of the relay team.
VI. ALL-STATE - For being selected All-State Honorable Mention or SPecial Mention, a player in a team sport is awarded one (1) point for each year so honored. Three (3) points are awarded for a a Second Team All-State designation, and five (5) points for a First Team All-State designation. In individual Sate Meet competitions, one (1) point is earned for each 3rd place finish, three (3) points for each runner-up erformance, and five (5) points for each Individual Championship at the State level. All State relay points are apportioned among members of the relay team.
VII. Scholarship - One (1) adddtional point is awarded to a candidate, for induction, who graduates with a 3.0, or better, Cumulative Grade Point Average.
