Principal Industries The City of Tolleson has become a strong distribution hub for companies wishing to deliver products to southwestern markets. This is primarily due to its excellent location just south of the I-10 and the interchange with the new loop 101. The city of Tolleson hosts several large employers, including Sunland Beef, Krogers, Albertsons, Salt River Project, and Sysco Food Systems. In addition to distribution and food, fiber and natural products, the community has a strong manufacturing structure. We will retain the foundation of our family oriented, friendly, small town atmosphere. We will support a positive, diverse growth environment that maintains and enriches the quality of life for everyone. The Mayor of Tolleson, Adolfo F. Gámez serves as the ambassador of the city, actively promoting the local area to industrial, commercial and retail companies and tourists, as well as championing causes and raising the profile of the community. A native of Tolleson, Gámez has watched the city evolve from a quaint farming community to an economically viable player in the greater Phoenix Metro area. |

During his tenure, he has provided strategic direction, along with his fellow City Council members, which has had a direct impact on the City of Tolleson. The initiatives in which he has participated include approving a new economic director and attracting new economic commercial/retail development, which will provide millions of dollars in future tax revenue. Prior to his election as a City Council official, he served as the former chair and a member of the Tolleson Planning and Zoning Commission. Council Member Rodriguez is very familiar with the inner workings of city government, which he believes brings a unique perspective to City Council. Since March 1998, he has worked for the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department. He previously held positions as a Recreation Coordinator I and II, and as a Recreation Leader. In 2003, he was awarded the City of Phoenix Excellence Award for his contributions to the Latino Institute. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Arizona State University, and both a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Arizona State University. He completed the City of Phoenix Advanced Supervisory Academy, and the first and second year curriculum at the NRPA Pacific Southwest Maintenance Management School. He holds a Certified Playground Safety Inspector credential from the National Playground Safety Institute. He is a member of the National League of Cities, the Hispanic Elected Local Officials Branch of the NLC, and the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, from which he earned a Bronze Certification from the Leadership Training Institute Program. Further, he holds memberships in recreation organizations, including the National Recreation and Parks Association and the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association, where he served as the former chair of the Ethnic Leadership Branch. |
