Monday, July 9 Round-Robin Tournaments Waukegan scores well in first weekend of tournament! 10u team won 2, tied 1 12u team won all three games 14u team won 1, lost 1 and tied 1 Waukegan is showing up and playing great! July 8 at Warren Township 10u team won 2, lost 1 12u team won 2, lost 1 14u team did not play they were in their league tournament. Monday, July 9 Waukegan Colt team played hard in their tournament. Winning their first game on Sunday, at 10:30 in Avon Township and advancing to the championship game. At 3:30 sunday, our girls played a tough game in 90+ weather and lost to Richmond. This is a double elimination tournament, so they had to play Richmond again with only 15 minutes to rest. The team played hard but lost to Richmond. These girls are champions to Waukegan and showed Lake and Mchenry Counties that Wuakegan can play ball! Everyone on the team received a 2nd place trophy and should be proud of their accomplishment. Wednesday, July 11 Fall Program will take place when we have 8 coaches committed to 6 weeks of skills and drills. We would like to have rotations to teach/train our girls in the skills needed to play softball. Flyballs/pop-ups, grounders, hitting, sliding, catching and throwing. The girls will learn warm-up exercises and fundamentals of the game. There will be a separate program for pitchers and catchers. This will be for girls who really want to improve their skills in pitching and or catching. More information will come when we have the coaches needed to run the program. Monday, July 16 On Sunday, our 10u was down 2-0 in the first game with bases loaded when Class #13 hit a grand slam giving the team the win. MVP awards will be announced soon. |
