FAQS About Wateree Wildcats

Are Wateree Wildcats teams competitive travel fastpitch teams?

YES.  The Wateree Wildcats Fastpitch Softball Organization is a highly competitive travel ball family.  We may play in State and/or National Qualifiers.  Unlike Recreational ball, players are not guaranteed playing time.  The teams batting order, a player's position and/or time on the field are determined soley by the coach.  This determination is based upon skill, effort, attendance, and attitude.

How can my daughter try out for the Wateree Wildcats?

We will conduct structured tryouts for open roster positions in late winter and again in late summer.  However, this does not preclude inviting certain players to join the team without a tryout or conducting special tryouts as deemed necessary.  Prospective players are always welcome to practice with us for the purpose of evaluation.  If you are interested in becoming a Wateree Wildcat, you may contact any member of the coaching staff,  Once a girl has tried out, the coaching staff will notify you of their decision.

Will my daughter play in the position that she has always played?

Not necessarily. The coaching staff will look at players for these positions, but they will also be reviewed at other positions as well.  If it is determined that they will be more beneficial to the TEAM in another position, then they may be moved. Every position on the field is equally as important as the other positions and may require players to learn more than one position.

Where do the Wateree Wildcats play?

The majority of our tournaments will not require an overnight stay; however, certain State or National Tournaments may require an overnight stay if the team chooses to play in those tournaments.

How many tournaments do we play?

We normally play four to five tournaments in the fall.  During the spring and summer season, we will play somewhere between six and ten tournaments.  This schedule will be decided by the coaching staff of each individual team.

How often do we practice?

Practices vary by team.  Usually 2-3 times a week.

If my daughter makes the team, will she automatically progress to the next season?

Most players will be invited back to participate in the next travel season; however, the decision by the coach to extend an invitation will be dependant on the player's overall performance, effort, attitude, and both the player and parent's commitment to the team.

How much will it cost my daughter to play?

The cost will be determined by the number of players, the number of tournaments played, and uniform/equipment expense; however, some of these costs may be offset by fundraising/sponsorships.
