How the League Leaders Area is Compiled
WRWBL statistics are compiled using the same standards (when applicable) as Major League Baseball (MLB). Using those standards and adapting the pitching numbers (due to number of games, and keeping in mind that not all games go the full 9 innings) the following was adopted. In order to qualify for hitting categories a player must have the appropriate number of PLATE APPEARANCES. This DOES NOT MEAN AT BATS but the total number of times a player came to the plate. This would include walks, sacrifices and hit by pitches. The ratio used was 2.8 plate appearance per games TIMES the fewest number of games played by a TEAM. Therefore, if the team with the fewest amount of games played was 5 games then all players need a minimum of 14 plate appearances to qualify for the leaderboard. All numbers are rounded down not up. For pitchers the formula was adapted the to better suit the league. MLB used 1 innings pitched per games played to qualify for season awards. We raised this to 1.5 innings pitched per the fewest number of games a TEAM played.
