Neidinger Swims on Team Wisconsin at Central Zone Championships!
Paige Neidinger, 12, from Waunakee Rural Aquatic Team, swam as part of Team Wisconsin for the Central Zone swim championships in Topeka, Kansas in August 9 - 12. Paige's times in the 50 fly and 100 fly this past summer qualified her to advance past the Wisconsin Swim Championships, to the Zone championships.
Paige delivered a smashing performance in both events. Her time of 32.75 placed her 20th overall amongst all 11 & 12 year old girls in the event, and was an improvement against her state time in this event by a full half second. Her time of 1:13:66 earned her a 12th place overall in the 100 fly, as well.
All Wisconsin Zone qualifying swimmers who decide to proceed to the Zone competition become part of "Team Wisconsin." Team Wisconsin then swam against other teams in the Central Zone: Minnesota, Michigan, North and South Dakota, Ozark, and Missouri Valley.

WRAT Swims Strong at State Swim Championships
Waunakee Rural Aquatic Team (WRAT)
finished its Spring & Summer 2007 swim season with a strong performance at
the State Swim Championships.
The US / Wisconsin Swimming State Swim Championships for the Summer Long
Course season are held every summer at the 50 meter pool at the Schroeder YMCA
in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, and are divided by age group. The meets take place the last weekend
of July (12 & Under) and the first weekend of August (13 & Over) every
summer.
In total, 10 swimmers qualified to attend the 2 championship meets - a team record; 8 of these swimmers were able to attend. In total, WRAT swimmers achieved 18 "Top 16" finishes in various events over the course of the 2 weekends. At the State Championships level, swimmers placing 1st through 8th earn a medal and a special trip to the podim to receive their award, while swimmers placing 9th through 16th receive a ribbon. In addition, WRAT swimmers achieved 3 Zone Cuts, broke 7 WRAT team records, and delivered 16 personal bests at these meets.

Swimmers Compete at State Silver State
The Wisconsin State Silver meet was held July 20-22 in Waukesha. Eight WRAT swimmers competed in this runner-up meet to statewith other swimmers from all across Wicsonsin with hopes of securing either additional state cuts or a state cut. This meet was in the short course yard format, the same distance as the Waunakee High School pool.
Colin Duffy was the only 8 year old from the team to attend. In this meet, 8 and unders must swim with the 10 and unders. Duffy earned three new team records. He placed second.....

Swimmers Don't Mind the "Dog Days"
The weekend of July 14-15 found the WRAT swimmers competing in the McFarland Dog Days of Summer meet. This meet provided teh swimmers again with many personal bests and severagl Wisconsin LSC State cut times, as well as experience in a 25-meter pool.
In the 8 & under division, Colin Duffy had an outstanding event. Duffy competed in eight events....

WRAT Swimmers Fly at Bird Bath
The three-day Bird Bath swim meet held in Appleton's Erb Park is considered by many in the Wisconsin swimming community as a highlight summer meet, especially ecause Wisconsin has few outdoor 50-meter pools. This year, the Bird Bath attracted 957 swimmers from throughout the strate. On the hottest weekend of the summer, July 6-8th, the Waunakee Rural Aquatic Team took part in their very first Bird Bath. The mid-90 degree heat and the outdoor venue was a challenge the team happily underook and in turn the swimmers had an amazing meet.....

WRAT Competes in Long Course Meet
Waunakee Rural Aquatic Team members, under the direction of
Head Coach Erin Detwiler, participated in the Shorewood Summer Long Course Meet
at the Schroeder YMCA in Brown Deer, Wisconsin June 23-24. The Shorewood Summer meet is one of the
premier meets held in Wisconsin.
This meet was set up in the “long course” 50-yard format, the standard
used in the Olympics.
The Waunkee boys had a great showing in this meet. A new team record was set....
