The Philosophy and goal of Little League Baseball is to teach good citizenship, build character, and team work through the game of baseball. These are all tools required to be successful in life. WORKS Little league has over 700 Volunteer Members that consist of players, coachs, managers, umpires etc. WORKS Little League is now the ONLY Little League in NYC that has a Challenger Division. We can truly say that we serve ALL children.
Saturday, April 19 Schedule Changes We have once again had to redo our schedules in both the Minor and Major Divisions. The "new" schedules are now available on the web site for downloading. Most of the changes affect where and when the weekend games are played. In the Minor Division all Saturday games from Victory # 4 have been either moved to Pals #2 or to Sunday. In the Major Division all Sunday games have had their times changed. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that this is the final rescheduling that we need to do. The schedules were updated at 11:30 AM on Saturday April 19, 2008. Tuesday, April 15 McDonald's Night We are holding our annual fund raising event at McDonald's Restaurant on May 13, 2008 from 6 PM until 9 PM. McDonald's donates half of the receipts from this night to our league to help support our kids. Please make every effort to have your dinner that night at the McDonald's at 91-01 Jamaica Avenue between the hours of 6 PM and 9PM and be sure to use the cash register(s) designated for W.O.R.K.S. We thank the owners of McDonald's for their continued support through the years to help your kids!
Seniors Win 2007 District Championship! WORKS Little League Senior District Team captured the 2007 District Championship with two come from behind victories in their last at bat. Game #1 was won 8-7 on a 2 RBI single by Frank Kenny in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs. After losing game #2, WORKS fell behind late in game #3. A single by Russell Leecock started the bottom of the 7th. Brandon McRae followed with a single to centerfield that was misplayed with Russell scoring the tying run all the way from first base and Brandon sliding into 3rd. The next two batters were walked intentionally loading the bases with no outs and the score tied. Rafael Santana lofted a fly ball to centerfield scoring Brandon who tagged up from 3rd with the winning run! This is the first championship for WORKS in many years. Congratulations Seniors! |
