Generals Force Game #11 to determine ODAC title
GENERALS DEFEAT VA WESLEYAN IN 12 INNINGS, 5-4
WINSTON-SALEM, NC--Senior Brian Gladysz 
singled home Junior Austin Allain in the 12th inning to give Washington and Lee a 5-4 win over Virginia Wesleyan, and force an 11th game to determine the ODAC Championship. Junior Bryan Mulhern was 3-5 and scored 2 runs to lead the Generals offensively. Mulhern set a new school single-deason record for hits with 52.
Junior Peter Dean started for the Generals and
pitched 6 innings of 8 hit ball, giving up 3 runs (2 earned) and striking out 5, walking 1. He was relieved by Sophomore Brian Higgins in the 7th. Higgins retired 2 Marlins, giving up 1 hit before being lifted for Junior Mike Wert, winner of last night's game against Bridgewater. Wert proceeded to get the next batter to fly out to right, and pitched 5.1 innings of 1 run, 3 hit ball to earn the win, striking out 2.
The Generals scored first in the 3rd, when Seniors
Michael Hanson and Gladysz both singled and crossed the plate on Marlin errors. The Marlins 2 runs in the 5th and 1 in the 6th to take the lead. That set the stage for Mulhern to score in the 9th to tie the game on a hit by Freshman Taylor McConnell after advancing on a sacrifice bunt by Junior Dan Kagey and a wild pitch. Kagey had the other General hit, doubling in the 2nd inning.Game time for the ODAC Title is 4:30 p.m.
