W&L WINS ODAC TOURNEY OPENER, 16-1 OVER LYNCHBURG

Peter Dean, 7-2, gets first Tournament win, striking out 8 in a 16-1 rompWINSTON-SALEM,
    NC--Washington and Lee starter Peter Dean
(7-2, 1.49 ERA) allowed just five hits with no walks while striking out eight Hornets to earn his 6th complete-game win of the year in a 16-1 romp over Lynchburg. Dean retired 13 straight batters in a span fromBryan Mulhern, 4-6, 3 RBIs in ODAC Tournament win over Lynchburg, ties W&L single-season RBI reord of 45 the second to the sixth inning.
   


    W&L (23-5) scored four times each in the first and third innings to grab a comfortable early lead. The Generals had 20 hits and were aided by three LC errors. Bryan Mulhern was 4-6 with a double and three RBIs, while Zach Bausch went 3-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Mulhern tied the W&L single-season RBI reord of 45. Michael Hanson hit his fifth homerun of theZach Bausch, 3-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBIs in Tournament win over Hornetsyear, and had 3 RBIs. Scott Gosselink was 3-5, Austin Allain and Bobby Littlehale, who doubled, were each 2-5, and other hits were added by Bryan Gladysz (double), Paul Sibley, Dan Kagey (double), Warren Hunter, with 2 RBIs, and Chris Chaplin.
W&L will play Bridgewater Friday evening at 7 p.m. Lynchburg will face off in the first elimination game with Hampden-Sydney at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Virginia Wesleyan - Guilford contest at 3:00 p.m.
