GENERALS WIN 21ST, CLINCH 2ND PLACE, MAROON ROANOKE 5-1

salem, va--Led by Sophomore catcher Zach Bausch's 3rd homerun, 2-4, 2 RBI performance at the plate, and 3 hits each by Seniors Michael Hanson, Bobby Littlehale and Junior Dan Kagey, the Generals posted their 21st win against only 3 defeats under the lights against Roanoke College at Salem Memorial Stadium Tuesday night, and clinched second place in the ODAC.

Junior pitcher Bryan Mulhern remained undefeated, earning his 3rd win while giving up only 1 run on 5 hits, with 3 strikeouts and no walks.
Senior Michael Hanson pitched the final 2 innings of shutout ball, allowing no hits and striking out 1 batter. Hanson finished 3-4 at the plate to boost his team leading batting average to .454 - tops in the ODAC, while adding another stolen base to his all-time W&L record of 47. Hanson also leads the conference with 11 doubles, adding to his W&L career double mark of 42. Other hits were added by Junior second baseman Austin Allain, Sophomore right fielder Warren Hunter and Freshman third baseman Scott Gosselink. Eleven Generals are now hitting over .300 for the season. The team batting average is an incredible .344 - tops in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, while the pitching staff boasts an equally impressive team earned run average of 2.34 - second only to Virginia Wesleyan, currently ranked 19th in the nation.
