Lakwood Hospital Fund-Raiserling
Thank you to those who helped out on the Fund-Raiser at Lakewood Hospital the night of Friday 3 August. Turned out to be a bit of hard work, bussing tables, garbage and breakdown. Gets the team a few bucks toward a tournament, but better yet is a good face to the community for these boys and this team.
Thanks to : Adam Geither, Liam Geither, Andy Ventura, Jeff Borsuk, Tyler Hudock, Jack Spellacy, Ian Sewolich, Mark Tuleta, Andrew & Alex Novack, Brian & Matt Sochaki, Courtney, Joe Jexerowski, hoe I didn't forget anyone.
Getting Rolling for 2007-08
Hope you have all been enjoying your summer.
I and others have been getting busy scheduling games, and structuring the year, and I will try to get this to you as soon as I can. This is a pretty confusing email, so print it and read it a couple of times. You can always call my cell phone to discuss @ 216-534-1214.
I have two sheets of ice upcoming, that I would like to invite all skaters to:
* Sunday 12 August 2007, 12:30-1:45pm, Followed by a Quick Parent/Player meeting
* Sunday, 19 August 2007, 5:15-6:45pm
These will be an informal skate, warm-ups, some drills and then scrimmage, (followed by a team meeting afterward to discuss the year.). Mainly what I need to address is how we intend to run this team prior to the OFFICIAL start of the HS year. I would like as many parents represented as we can. I understand as these kids get older, Parents can have less and less to do with this, but we will discuss finances and this typically still involves parents.
As most of you know, the club team typically picks up 4-5 quality players just after the HS cuts. So I usually keep 4-5 slots un-filled, on my Roster of 20 for this. But , as you also know, I have a number of players that play PrePost with us, the help keep our game and practice numbers up in the early fall, prior to the HS cuts. I do have players playing HS fall sports (football and Cross Country), So the extra bodies for games and practices helps me as well.
So these PP players get all the practices I have (last year was about 18 practices), and will share the games and preseason tournaments with the Club players. Last year I played maybe 10-11 games, including a tournament. Which PP play in games will be a game-by-game decision. This PrePost experience is a nice middle ground between nothing and doing the Jacks or Renegades.
However, I have to follow the "three player" rule just like other PP teams, so thee is a bit of juggling. Lastly , I will need to charge the PP players some dues, but it will be very palatable. It may also depend on how many games each gets individually. This can be discussed in detail at our meeting on 12 August.
So what I need all of you to consider is this ?
1) For those who played for me last year , I need honest information regarding... a) I do or do not intend to play this year. Or I am not sure. b) If you do intend to play this year, but will be going out for your HS team and would leave me if you make it. c) For those in fall sports, can you commit to making some of our preseason stuff.
2) For new players, I need to know the likelihood you will make , or intend to play.
I will try to call each of you individually on this, but if you can give me your thoughts in an email prior to Sunday 12 August, I would appreciate it.
Regards,
Coach Geither
